In preparation for The Fitz Challenge, 138 km 2300 m elevation
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/be ... uarie-pass
Sunday September 15
Train departs Central at 5.19 am arrives Berry 8.06 am - trains are running this weekend.
Route goes through Berry Mountain, Kangaroo Valley, Robertson(pies), descend Jamberoo Rd, climb Macquarie Pass, Robertson(more pies) and on to Bowral and train home.
The pace will be fast 28s, cruisey middies (these are big hills) and we'll regroup at the top of climbs.
So apply for leave passes.
*This is not a club sanctioned ride.
Bring license, 2 spare tubes, pump, food, money for pies.
Anything else I haven't thought of?
Have a great ride,
Peter
We should do a big things ride, the big potato Robertson (looks like a turd - but a turd with the majesty of the Taj Mahal), the big pavlova in Marulan (who knew a white concrete water tank could become so awesome if you called it the big pav), and finish at the big merino in goulburn.

Some conversation was had at the cafe post Waterfall today, 8/09 re. logistics of getting the train to Berry.
As of 8/09 trains are running and no trackwork.
http://www.sydneytrains.info/timetables ... ndingPoint
The train departs Central at 5.19am from the country train platforms.
Train stops at Wolli Creek at 5.30am, Hurstville at 5.39am or Waterfall at 6.01am if anyone fancies
Arrival in Berry at 8.16am and the doughnut stand will be open.
Rather than meet at the former MRC now "The Marrick" and stand around waiting, it was decided we should just head individually to the station of our convenience, meet on the platform or just meet up on the train - front carriage I suggest.
So could we put next to our names on the list where we'll join the party so we can look out for people, please get to the station in time cause the next train to Berry gets there 2 hours and 15 minutes after the first train.
Please if anyone has suggestions or a better plan speak up so this can run as smoothly as possible.
And James have you organized a billy? I'm sure you could easily whip up a cuppa and even campfire damper while you wait for me to get to the top of the hills, may I suggest something to read while you wait at the least.

Unfortunately, I won't be there to make the tea after all – I'll be escorting Taku and Bro out of Marrickville to the cols of Kurnell, or Waterfall instead. I did consider taking them up Macquarie Pass, but I fear they would show us all up.

I reckon you should pack one of these into your capacious audax bag... and then you can get it filled in Nowra, just before the climbs.

Great that you are free Phillip.
Really sorry you won't be joining us James and Noel. Hope you mend Noel and James how'd you get a picture of my new steed with the Homer Simpson inspired Growler holders?
Everyone else see you at Wolli Creek bright and early.
Have a great ride,
Peter

Yes, if I were allowed to admit it, I'd say I was a tad disappointed. Enjoy it!

Great ride Anna, Macquarie Pass I found to be longer than Barrengarry but not as steep. So just put my head down and rode to the top
We'll go back and do it again soon.
