Thur Hills ride: anybody up for a 5:45 start?
After my horrid little solo ride to the hills today I'm looking to see if anybody is interested in doing a Thur hills ride starting 15 mins later than the club ride at 5:45 from Marrickville. 5:30 is just too early for me.
If there's no interest I'll go see if I can hang on to the MC bunch again, who were about 20 strong today.

I could be interested. I can't next week but weeks following could be a goer.
MC 5 Hills is where DHBC got the idea to do an East Hills ride after Adrian E spread the word. Basically the same route as our Tue/Thur but with a different start and without Bellevue. They go left after Cranbrook.
I'll be there on Thur. Come on down. Can you see this? >> https://www.strava.com/activities/112916095

Those seeking more hills in their life can find them on the 'MC Five Hills Ride' which leaves the Centennial Park Horse Gates with James & Shaun at 06:15.
Both rides are 'no drop' and finish up at Bellagio well in time for the 'commute' and delicious caffeine brews, and awesome pastry temptations.
Remember to check in here early or on the MC Twitter Feed for any weather cancellation or changes.
Don't forget to bring spares, lights and a road bike is required.
See you on the road!

Last time I did MC it was FAST. And I was reasonably fit then. Is it still the same?
I don't think it's *too* fast, but that's always a subjective measure. Two comparisons come to mind:
- The "East Hills Anti-clockwise" segment on strava is normally about ~52 mins, with an average speed of ~24km/h
- In the MC hills ride, I'm typically about mid-pack, which saw me in the top 25% or so (I'd say?) of the Saturday morning hills, so the MC ride is a little faster than that
Yeah I stopped riding MC Hills because after Adrian moved West the young guys took it over and it went from a C28 pace ride to a fast C28+ / middies ride and I couldn't keep up. I figure I'll just turn up and if it's too fast I'll just ride solo.
And Jo when you're back riding again msg me.

Dougie - I'd be going straight to work in the CBD but when I used to do MC Hills and go home, I was back by about 8:10 and left home at 5:40ish to get to Centennial by 6:15. Looks like most of the rides were around 2:40 door to door from my place.
So if we left Marrickville at 5:45 and given we wouldn't have to wait at the park for the ride to begin, that would be back by about 8:00 I'd say.
This Thur 22nd I'm planning on doing MC Hills (weather permitting), unless there are some starters for 5:45 at the square?
