D grade report
Good fun. Several chases led by El Presidente. Half way thru a few witchs hats were on the track prior to the pimples. Beanzy kindly removed them and rejoined the race - tnks. There was a lady with a pram on the straight on one lap, we lapped them. Tim went mountain biking a couple of times. Av speed about 35.5 kph. I came 3rd. It was close at the end with everyone in a bunch finish...well done guys
C grade
Not sure what happended in that race...Alex did get a flat on last lap

Hi Guys,
I'm the new guy in D grade. (tony's the name)
How much fun was that?? That was my first bike race ever.
Surprised the average speed was that high. Didn't think i would be able to maintain that kind of speed for that distance, still, sitting at the back of the pack wasn't exactly taxing.
Will be back in a fortnight. Would have been next week except for previous engagment.
How do i score a DHBC jersey?? they look trick!!

Tony - thats great - your first race is a blast isn't it...
Contact: Lindsay the club Secretary; he advised that there's a new set of jersey's arriving soon - not only do they look good, they're very good quality, last a long time compared to others

Yeah, good on ya Tony - well done. That wasn't the easiest of D Grade races and if you can keep up, with energy left at the end, with no racing bunch experience, then soon you will hear the words 'welcome to C Grade' from John Buckton.
From Saturday Slowies, straight to the race track!!!!
This was my first crit for about 2 months and about 3rd for last 4 months. I probably enjoyed it the best because it was relatively fast with one or two guys (the same ones - so no surprises) making attack after attack.
And each time I imagined I was Jens Voigt and got out there and reeled 'em in.
Now with the Tour over I will lose my inspiration and super powers and just fade back to one of the gruppeto guys at the back.........

For me this was a very interesting although ultimately unsucessful race.
On lap 1, some guy broke off the front and got 200 metres. So I bridged over, and we quickly got a nice little gap. But quickly my helper died and left me stranded. Luckily two more bridged to me, but they refused to work, and we were back together soon.
Then some guy countered, and again got a nice gap. So I jump in at 2nd wheel and let someone else do the work to chase him. When the gapo gets to 100 metres, I jump from 2nd wheel, bridge and get into another break. This guy helps a bit, but 4 laps later he too dissapears, but the gap is so big I keep riding on my own.
Eventually 2 riders bridge up to me, and we have a nice 3 man break with 500 metre gap. But one of the helpers can't corner to save his life and gets quickly dropped.
So me and this one helper ride for 8 or so laps together, and get caught with 3 to go, by which time I can't hold the pace.
Ultimately no result, but if any of these other guys had a bit more power or organisation we could have stayed away for sure.

there's some really good shots of you Kieran on the RBCC website in race results. I do remember on the pimples you flew by us with one of your helpers...very fast indeed (woops forgot to list your name up top).
