NSW Parliament member for Balmain, Jamie Parker, has given notice of a Bill to require at least 1 metre overtaking distance when passing cyclists.

If you feel that this is an important initiative then please take the time to sign the petition below.

Even better, sign the petition and write to your local member and the Minister for Roads and Ports.

Done. Letters will be written today, although I support "survive 1.5m" as the passing distance .. as championed by Safe Cycling Australia ...

Done.

But Stuart, while I agree with 1.5m, that guy is a loony.

In my mind, 1.5 metre is better than 1 metre but 1 meter is way way better than nothing.

Done. But without photographic evidence or an actual collision I am not sure how a violation can be prosecuted?
