RAW - Race All Winter - is planned to start Friday 19th June pending approvals.
All the details about RAW can be found on the RAW track forum.
The venue is Dunc Gray Velodrome at Bass Hill on a Friday night. Racing starts at 7pm and runs until about 9.30pm. Best to arrive an hour early at least on the first time as the warm up can get a bit hectic.
All the racing is ability graded and you choose your own grade. Newbies to dunc ride novice grade for at least the first week.
Some of the races are unconventional like the Poker Race where the winner of each sprint lap gets a randomly drawn playing card, and the highest card drawn by the finish wins the race. Check out the Race Explanations from the Information page
Also keep an eye on the RAW Track facebook page
Currently the program is as follows
Hoepfully we'll have a strong DHBC turnout again this year.
RAW 2015
3 July This week’s Races
For the first year, Crafty is running the RAW crawl. Let's give it a go at training tonight.
• Round 1 Warm up Scratch
• Round 2 not this week
• Round 3 Kierins
• Round 4 Motorpace
• Round 5 Combines + (Div 3 up) RAW Crawl
Explain these races
Kierin- The keirin is a motorpaced event that is very popular in Japan where it originated. In that country, huge amounts of money are bet on races and professional keirin riders command impressive salaries. It is similar to the match sprint, but features 6-8 riders on the track. A derny motorbike paces the riders from 25 km/h up to 45 km/h for the first few laps. During this time, riders jostle each other for the best position and this is often the roughest part of the event. With two and a half laps to go, the derny bike pulls off and the sprint is on. Team tactics are important here, as the leadout is often quite long. If one team can get two of their riders in the final, then they are at a distinct advantage. reference http://www.cyclingnews.com

Motorpace- A derny motorbike paces the riders from the start at 45 km/h for the first few laps. The Derny rider will up the pace to a steady 48km/h. During this time, riders will rotate positions completing a max of one lap behind the derny. With about four laps to go, the derny bike pulls off and a standard scratch race starts. This event is intended to be an endurance race, with the pace of the derny ensuring fatigue has set in by the time it swings off.
RAW Crawl - There will be three graded races for the RAW Crawl. A whistle will blow to start the race. Riders have 10 seconds to make their way on to the track; any rider not on the track by this time is eliminated. Any rider who crosses the start line or comes off the track is eliminated. Any rider comes in contact with the track (foot down etc.) or another rider is eliminated. A second whistle will blow after 1 minute but before 2 minutes (random) this will indicate the start of the one lap race. You can work out the tactics from here.

Is that better, Jo? I think I'll have to start a rivalry with BMX Australia; they've got only one rider as far as I can see.

Good observations, John. St. George has a different rider demographic than LACC, so it won't be DHBC against a bunch of mamils. Lots of fast track talent at St George. When they realise they're in contention, they'll get their big guns down there and no more bikes for DHBC.Jo, BFV no longer with LACC -> poorer LACC attendance -> St George > LACC = DHBC will be toast. Calling all LACC riders to get on down to RAW! As well as Trouty and Amy plus NRS riders
I've got my popcorn with vegan butter on it ready and waiting.

When I speak to DHBC riders on Fridays it feels like I can hear a death march playing in the background.
DUDES! A Champion team can beat a team of champions.
Lets get motivated.
