On Sunday August 2nd a Gala Day is being organised by Camden Rotary to support U19 rider Cam Scott from St George Club who has been selected to represent Australia in the Junior Track World Championships in Kazakhstan in August.
Cam has been one of the most impressive U19 riders nationally throughout his junior racing. DHBC members who have been racing or supporting their kids' racing will know him from his regular appearances on the front of sprints and on the podium. He's a very likeable, modest and focused young guy and worthy of support.
The event, which includes various bit of bike related fun and stalls from various manufacturers is scheduled to start right after the Macarthur Collegian Cycling Club complete their Hill Climb event which is being held just down the road on Old Razorback.
Tom and I are planning to ride out to Razorback along the M5 cycleway, do the hill climb (which is open to members of other clubs) and go to the Gala Day for an hour or so before heading home. Would love to have the company of any other DHBC members who would like to support Cam or just fancy a Sunday ride with a difference.
Details of the Gala Day and a flyer will be posted on the Dulwich Hill Bicycyle Club Facebook page shortly.
I'm waiting for the details of the hill climb event registration and will post shortly. Probably we'll need to leave Marrickville at about 6.15.

Hi Neil,
Would be great to have your company.
It depends who wants to come really. Probably 28 - middies pace.
I have realised since posting that it is about 60ks to Old Razorback so will shortly post directions to drive out and meet near Liverpool (venue tba) so that a 30ks each way (plus the hill climb) ride is possible. Anyone who wants to ride the whole distance can meet us at Liverpool.
I'm waiting for information on the timing of rego for the hill climb and will post this weekend.
Cheers

Update:
Weather being OK the plan is to catch the train from Sydenham to Glenfield leaving at 6am. At Glenfield we will have 100 mins to travel the 35 ks (along Campbelltown Road, Camden Valley Way and Cawdor Road) to the foot of Old Razorback. Those who would like to can register and take part in the Macarthur Collegians Hill Climb. I'm going to but have not fitness so just for fun(!) There's a 5km ride then to the event base which is apparently beautiful. For the $20 fundraising entry fee there is pizza, coffee and various activities and displays. After an hour or so the plan is to ride back to Glenfield and jump on the train back to Sydenham (38 mins ride).
There's a flier for the event that you can see on the St George Club FB page (post from 14 July).
Tom is now racing at Mudgee Open, so its currently just me going. Happy to ride middies or slower with anyone who fancies a change or scenery.
Do call if any extra info needed - 0434 662872.
Cheers

Best of luck in Hunter Doug.
The Razorback hill climb race organisers have confirmed that it is fine for any of us who want to do so to register at 8 - and likely do the climb around 8.30. Any takers? I'll let them know how many.

Thanks Mark - will hand over your $20 donation - I know they will appreciate it and you will have skin in the world champs too. Bargain!
For anyone interested - to confirm Eleri and I are meeting at Sydenham station at 5.55am. Forecast not too bad - 50% chance of rain, but 0-1mm.
We are planning to ride the 60ks back to Sydney at the end - so will amount to a 100 k + round trip with a hill climb. Lots of options to reduce or add to the ride...
cheers,

And congratulations Simon for beating me up the hill. "I think I did 16 or 17 mins," he said. Hmmph.
