Actually it is - but the club is Audax which is also part of Cycling Australia.Disclaimer: Please note that this is not a club-sanctioned ride
And you usually can't just turn up. You need to register and pay online first. That said, the link didn't seem to be working for me.
It's not a club-sanctioned ride, because it's not a ride that has been sanctioned as an official ride of the club to which this forum relates.
You're right - you can't just turn up, and need to register and pay online first. That information is set out in the link in the "Key details" section of the original post (set out again for convenience: http://api.ning.com/files/vnQhPUwEod2Yu ... IW2015.pdf)

Sure - it doesn't relate to this forum but it's useful for people who may not know that Audax is part of Cycling Australia and that the same insurance and liability arrangements exist.
Which may all be a moot point now that the insurance arrangements changed a couple of years ago.
What I would expect from a sanctioned ride is that there is a thought out route, that there are some sort of safety arrangements in place and that the club takes on some liability.
But worth noting. If it is an Audax ride, then it's a good idea to note in the original post that it isn't free and people can't just turn up. Something I've discovered is that not everyone reads the instructions

2) For all but the 150km option you will need a reflective vest and 2 sets of front and rear lights. See Paul's link for details.
3) Paul promised that I can get the train home if I get sore legs.

I'm thinking of doing the River Ride next Saturday:
http://www.audax.org.au/public/index.ph ... dit&id=357
http://www.audax.org.au/public/index.ph ... dit&id=357
Either, but I've not done a long ride for a while and am not sure I can be bothered with the lights bizzo. That said, it would only take me 5 minutes to work out the lights and it's not like the 50km extension looks particularly onerous so I could easily be swayed!
I'd consider the 150 if I caught the train out to the start, then maybe do the ride home.
I'm not really sure what that extra 50 kms gets you, there's no extra hills or a massive change in scenery...
200 is probably pushing it for me anyway.
What pace you would you ride at (kph avg or finish time)?

I'd probably look to borrow Ted's car (2 bike racks). Or convince Eleri to come with her Prius (3 racks). I'd be ok riding out there, but not home. Too much traffic. So reversing your plan would also be an option for me. 150 sounds good. I like to go at a strolling pace while audaxing and enjoy the scenery. Something in the lower half of the 20kph range. But could go faster if people wish.
I'll start a list. I guess everyone will make their own way there (and back) or organise otherwise.
Audax River Ride 150, Sat 9 May 2015
http://www.audax.org.au/public/index.ph ... dit&id=357
Bring 2 bidons, 2 spares, pump, snacks and a little cash.
Pace looks to be fairly cruise-y. Course is mainly flat apart from 3 bigger hills incl. East Galston.
1. Camilla
2. Tim
3. Phil D
Note: this ride is conducted under the Audax Australia Cycling Club not DHBC.
You need to register before the event through the website above to participate.
Maybe we should make a new thread for this since it's not 'wing it west'?

sounds good to me Phil. 5.05 at the Enmore for the River Ride.
I was just going to switch this to a new thread as per Timich's suggestion but see that you've updated the title Paul. Thanks.
Although is it too confusing to have multiple rides intertwined?
