Latest frame (Christian's adventures in frame building pt 2)
Its been a while since I finished my first frame and I have finally finished my second frame. Some of you may have seen me out on it this weekend. This one is a fillet brazed road frame made from Columbus Spirit tubing. I'm pretty happy with how it has turned out, it handles pretty well. Its a bit more twitchy then my last road bike, this is due to the quite steep head angle which also means its got a little bit of toe overlap which I only find to be a problem when track standing. It comes in at 7.85kg fully built which is quite reasonable for a steel framed bike, I beleive the frame is somewhere around the 1.6kg mark, I didn't weigh it when it come back from the painters. The paint was done by Star Enamellers.

Are those yokozuna cables? I'd make sure to put some frame protection on as they'll chew through that beautiful paint.

It looks like my frame building days are numbered at the point in time. I've talked to a couple of frame builders about the whole insurance thing and seen what has been mentioned on the frame builders collective forum, it looks like I can't make frames for other people, actually its not that I can't, I won't. The insurance is over $3k a year, not worth it unless you are making a living out of it. I'm sure I can think of another one to make for myself, maybe a steel track bike.
