So my Garmin has reported to Strava that my top speed coming home tonight was 70km/h - on a fixie. Maybe I should come down to the track...

Do you use the iPhone app, or a garmin head unit?

Has anyone got a Strava log for Sunday's Waterfall ride, preferably C25

I've found 2 3 middies and a C28 but no C25's.

Of course there is always this one

That's the one I'm trying to compare with, perhaps I could compare with the C28 one and make an adjustment. Where's the C28 one?

I'm guessing this ride of McrKenndy is about as close as I'm going to get to a C25 example http://app.strava.com/rides/6376371

I know, I was being a smart arse.

Did find another, but it looks like they were with you, and were using the iPhone app too.
This is one looks like a C28, but again it's with the iPhone app.

EMT, Phillip and I were with the middies, all with various Garmin devices.

Hope that helps, I'm going to stop Strava stalking people now.

Thanks Timothy, I've looked at those profiles and wasn't able to estimate a C25 climb profile from them, I need something a bit closer. Not to worry, doesn't seem the data exists

@Mike I've got lots of C25 rides on Garmin Connect and also on Strava - although on Strava they're not labelled. Are you a Garmin member?

Thanks utopia, that is exactly what I'm looking for

Stuart, no I don't have an account, I can create one. Would be great to look at some more data

Well done on that ride. Lots of PR's and second-bests. Good stuff!

Thanks, but that's probably a defect of Strava especially when you have done a route just twice.
ie it means every sector will either be PR or 2nds as it's comparing with your first ride
:)

Speaking of which. http://app.strava.com/rides/5362582
Mike, that is probably a better ride for you to analyse as it's the Cruiser25 route without my pre & post rides.

Mr T! I really need to start paying more attention to who's showing up on a Sunday.

Mike, just why exactly are you on a forensic search for C25 data? Do you think we've been up to something? Perhaps secretly deviating to Kurnell (as opposed to Kernel) or maybe going for sneaky fast rides through the RNP - all the while pretending we are slow as a wet week?

Stuart had a stack of data, so I've used that in combination with the others to compare with my ride to Waterfall last Monday.

I was also looking for variations, which will occur due to conditions are the particular riders (not captains) on the day, to look at what rider variation does to the ride.

The conclusions were;
- Flat speed differential didn't matter, as where a bunch was simulated, by sucking SCC on Monday, the solo speed was increased by 4kph. And this results in a significant variation in average speed when the group is together for the entire ride, so you can't use the new riders solo average speed as a predictor of their ability to successfully complete a maiden C25 voyage.
- Hills were quite hard to analyse, as the headwind impacted the natural speed, even with me acting as a wind break. It seemed to me that the climbing is the biggest barrier to a successful maiden C25 voyage. To a fastie, the hills on the Waterfall ride are a very different picture, where you treat them as bumps and simply power over them, which makes them harder to understand from a slower perspective.
- The longer sections of false flat uphill seem to really tax in the same way as the true hills. The speeds over this area was where I was concerned with the Monday data, but not so now, seeing it is a C25 characteristic.
- Distance didn't seem that significant, though this can be an individual thing.

I think I concur. C25s are definitely slower on the hills. I think your friend can ride with the C25s.
