How long does it normally take the Sunday bunch to go from the RNP turnoff on the Princes Hwy at Loftus to Waterfall, and back to that point?
I've often thought it would be nice to to get a little bit of hill training in on Sunday by turning left into the park, go a set number of minutes into the park then turn around and head back & rejoin the group back at Loftus. The Audley hill could be more interesting and challenging than that bit of road down to waterfall via the Princes Hwy.
timing - sunday to waterfall

Fasties generally take 30 extra minutes to go thru the park (Waterfall in, Audley out) over the standard waterfall ride

thanks for the advice all. sounds like 22 mins out then turn around.
Yep thinking about a comeback as I've found you achieve so little sitting at home before 9:30 am on a Sunday morning that you may as well be out riding instead...

So a dip into Audley and up Artillery Hill, then turn around. That should do it.Fasties generally take 30 extra minutes to go thru the park (Waterfall in, Audley out) over the standard waterfall ride
There is a sign at the bottom of the Waterfall hill saying 22km to Audley, so it should be about 45-50 minutes from there to the Loftus exit assuming an average of about 30km/hr.How long does it normally take the Sunday bunch to go from the RNP turnoff on the Princes Hwy at Loftus to Waterfall, and back to that point?

However, it will take a reasonably paced bunch about 17-19 minutes to do the same run from the top of Waterfall to the same point.
Personally, I would give yourself at least 30 minutes extra time, probably more. It's probably better to wait at Sutherland a bit longer rather than miss the bunch altogether.

Turning back just past the top of artillery hill, at the warumbul rd turnoff gets you back at the service station around 10 minutes before the middies bunch, based on timing today. A little further into the park would be ideal -maybe another 5-10 minutes worth before turning around.
5-10 minutes should be enough for you to do an extra Audley climb repeat!

You're welcome to try that if you come along on this route Weiun!5-10 minutes should be enough for you to do an extra Audley climb repeat!
Just think this way Alan. The total elevation gain with 1 Artillery Hill and 2 Audley Hills would be virtually identical to a full RNP loop, but done in 2/3 the time. And I'd love to join you after I've nursed my back to health. You're welcome to try that if you come along on this route Weiun!
