I'm staying out of the scoring but I thought I'd share my most memorable puncture.
Brand new Giant, some type of hardtail I'd bought for single track riding. It was the first new bike I'd paid my own money for (instead of using mum's money).
I'd ridden it once (from the shop to home). On the second ride with all my gear on I got 100mtrs down the road before I heard the dread pssst sound from the rear Maxxis. The dog poo at the site of the puncture had me going back to the house to clean it before touching it, for obvious reasons.
I could only laugh when I found the source of the puncture - a dog's tooth which by discomfort for the dog and misfortune for me, had apparently journeyed through the dog's internals all the way out the back, as it were.
I replaced the tube and plugged the tyre, as the tooth was a large canine.

That was 5 years ago. More recently, I had some type of pincer puncture on the track, probably from a fitting error on my part and with 160psi to encourage it.
Forget deducting points for borrowing a tube, Ian D lent me a whole wheel - thanks Ian.

+1 (1/2 point) Flat front at the Velodrome today, latex tube too
Ride without a spare tube - 1 point
So that's a net total of - 1/2 point
However I've avoided the "Don't return the tube within 14 days" penalty by purchasing the tube :)

4 punctures

First one was the front at Yerrinbool, about 10k out of Mittagong in the poring rain on Saturday about 5.00pm. Managed to find a bus shelter to change it in.
Second one was the rear at Exetor 7.30pm Saturday in the poring rain in the dark on a country road. It was pitch dark and I rode into town on the flat and changed it under a street light.
Third one was the rear again on Sunday morning on the Hume Hwy heading towards Goulburn
Forth one was the front again today (Monday) about 20k from Norwa

In all 4 cases the punctures were caused by glass

On top of this there's something wrong with the bead on the rear and I ended up riding about 250k with only 100psi in the rear, when I would of ridden with 125psi.

Patched 3 of the tubes, tossed one. I'm tossing both tyres

Points
4 punctures = 2 points
Assistance on one puncture = -1 point
Patched 3 tubes = 1.5 points
Total points = 2.5 points

A bit past midnight, out on the Scott 24 course my rear tyre went flat. I kind of tried to seal it (tubeless) but kind of didn't know what the hell I was doing. Ended up putting a tube in it, but the whole process took me about 20 minutes because I was so tired. One girl stopped to help, I was finding it difficult to get the back wheel back on. She didn't really do anything except laughed with me while we both fumbled around wishing a guy would stop... But they just kept on speeding past. Eventually go it on and pressed on into the night...

Went over a field of fragmented glass over the weekend and a front flat eventuated after getting home. Tube removed, patched and replaced for +1.5 point.

I just went back through and counted. I didn't change all of them myself, and a few times I wasn't carrying things I should have been.

Total of 24 flats this year.

Repair another DHBC riders tyre, ie change the tube or single
1/2
Patch your own tube
1/2
Patch your own single
2
Lend another DHBC rider a tube
1/2

So it depends on whether he gave you the tube before you patched it. If you just took it, then technically BF still owned it.

This competition isn't really about flat tyres, its about finding ways to maximise the number of points you get

This is getting rather dull. It's relatively rare for me to get flats on the road. Might be a sign I need some new tyres. How many km's am I supposed to get out of road tyres anyway?

I was stashing my punctured tubes so I could make a last minute 1/2 point dash, but I need 53 tubes to win, so its time to concede

+1 for being female getting a flat
+1 for replacing tube
*2 for both wheels

and i'll add the .5 from earlier this month just to bump me up further :)

That's only for when someone else changes your flat. If you are a female other than those specified (Camilla, Jessica, Amy, Joanne, Victoria) you don't get deducted half a point. So you or Lizanne, for example, could not change any of your flats and still get the same points as us!

I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking I make all this crap up. I really wish I did.

Flat on King Street on the way to Tempe. Brown glass, new tyres. Even patched the tube at the track just in case I got another on the way home as I didn't have another spare.

I had one on the way to uni prac in th rain! so who knows who it was that lent me all the stuff, and did all the work, but it happened, so im now minus ten, hey i reckon people should put the amount of flats they are up to in brackets next to their names, i probably wouldnt be protesting against it then, as i could still compare my self with how many actual flats people have had.

I was riding my sketchy clamont to newtown to show off to some friends (it has a new chain so i can now pedal) when i got a flat on the rear wheel.
2 points and the tube was not worth patching

as a side note because i'm such a good person i did help someone near the airport with a flat and a spare tube. I also did one for my boyfriend because he is useless with bikes. both not dhbc members but hopefully that gives me some good karma for the future!

This surely this is the last one for the year.

Riding home on the down slope of Robert St and a big loud whoosh came from the back wheel. 8mm slash by something. End of tyre (close to EOL anyway) but the tube was repairable and patched at home. +1.5 again.

Took the Cross Check out of retirement and found a flat on the rear. Valve was busted.

Crossing my fingers for minimal flats next week...

off you go then, let us know what you find out.

mean, median, standard distribution would be good as well.

But we need 50 females in the club so we have small sample statistical accuracy

Front tyre was flat just as I was about to push the bike out the front door. An old self-adhesive Park Tools patch has failed and it would appear those things don't like repeated inflation-deflation cycles. Tube replaced and old tube discarded... +1.

+ 1. Noticed the rear on the fixie was flat last night. Gator Duraskins and tyre liners and its flat. Turned out that the join on the tyre liner had rubbed a hole in the tube, so this time I booted the tube with a piece of tube and hopefully it won't wear thru before I wear the tyre out.

0.5 for one flat

4 Continental Gator Duraskins
9 Continental Gator Skins
2 Continental GP4000
10 Continental GP4000s Chilli
1 Continental Supersonics
2 Michelin Pro2race
1 Veloflex Record

Special thanks to Ian Carswell for creating and donating the flat tyre prizes. I couldn't find a photo of Ian on the night, did he escape the camera?
