There is an article on SMH from Carl Scully, apparently while supporting cycling, he wanted to keep cyclists of the road.

That's a tough poll with such polarized options. Clearly cyclists' rights and priorities are different to motorists so it's hard to give a simple yes or no answer.

Like all poll questions, there's never the perfect answer. Ideally Cyclists don't have the same rights as motorists, as laws favour cyclists over cars with (eg. cyclists can go straight ahead at a left turn only left lane), and cars over cyclists. I struggled a bit with the poll.

Its probably more accurate to answer it on Should cyclists have equitable rights as per motorists. In that case the answer would be Yes. That's more in the spirit of the original question.

Get in there and make sure you vote yes. Please fill up all the other forums with similar messages.

If the usual viewers of this forum (100 people or so) voted today, the current result would move from 46% YES to 49.78%. So get on there and vote.

That's an interesting article.

Last friday afternoon I sat next to a DHBC rider at Timbrell park waiting to cross the city west link at the pedestrian crossing, to head up and over the hill towards Hawthorne pde. We saw a cyclist heading along the city west link in the middle of the lane and I think we both made a comment about better him than us.

That's an =extremely= busy piece of road - relatively high vehicle speeds, no shoulder, and narrow lanes. Should bikes be on there at peak hour?
