I don't think this would even be possible...(ie. there's a beer in it for the first person to do it going straight up the bank)

Some kids I know borrowed my bike a while back and took it over to training at Dunc for the fun of it. One of them is quite tall and he manages to do wheelies on the bike.

If a race is put on, he would definately give you guys a run.

Karen, you can be the commissar

This is my prediction

Hill Climb - Lindsay - excellent balance not to big
Flying 20 - Amy - quad dominate bmx rider, small
333 time trail - Christian - if I have to explain that, then you don't know Christian.

There is an additional bike which you may want to add to the race Mike.
I picked up an Alenax yesterday. I will post some pics later today. If you google the name you will find some info on it. :)

Well the bike was given a shake out tonight. After a bit of practice in the grand stand, it was time to hit the velodrome.

Image
Christian did a cracking 2 minute 25 second lap

Image
Alex went for a different footwear option, but his longer legs let him down, finishing the lap in 2 minute 33 seconds

So the challenge is on, can Christian be toppled ???

To claim the win you would have to pay the $700 for drug testing

I would say this is perfectly acceptable if you include a bit of grass during the run ie. Cyclo-cross.

According to my calculations, it would take 15 hours to complete Cootamundra on the monkey bike.

If you want to take it out for training on Wednesday, your welcome to pick it up. I'm at a training course Wednesday night.

Christian's 333 time trial time has been well and truly smashed, but it took kid power to trumph. Last Saturday's results;

333 time trail
2:14 Lindsay Jr
2:15.53 Christian
2:31:64 Lindsay Snr
3.03.55 Yilan (aged 9)

Flying 20
9.65 Mikesbytes
10.18 Micklan

Micklan is under investigation, there is question whether the Australian safety sticker was present.

BTW the monkey bike needs new pedals, its got a one piece crank so the threads are smaller. Anyone got some knocking around?

I intend on smashing my previous record on the next attempt. I think juniors should have there own competition as the rest of us are disadvantaged by having longer legs. And I don't like being beaten by them.

This doesn't sound right. Because travelling 80m at "333m in 2:30min" speed will take 36 seconds. I can't be 80m off the record and then finish in the next 10 sec at 2:24! You messed my times Mike :x

There was chat about having a monkey bike road racing championship. Could use the kiddies track at CP for example.

Nada, if you want to organise an event like that or something else, the bike is available

If your concerned it may have negative image then we won't do it. I'm not so sure how having it hang around is a problem and it could be a bit of fun for any kids that turn up, perhaps not on the velodrome itself though

Christian expressed interest in getting the monkey bike out again, perhaps its time for the 2011 competition, but is reluctant to wear the official monkey bike helmet, so redesign is required. Depending on what materials I can find at the $2 shop, the following come time mind;
- The Elvis Presley helmet
- The Orthodox Jew helmet (lucky the velodrome is in Canterbury council)
- The Oxford St helmet
- The Lumberjack helmet
Of course I'm open to suggestions

And its time to bring out the secret weapon [drum roll].....[/drum roll] Fumi. So we can see Cristian beaten by a girl :)

I'm going to start training for this one, not that I know what sort of training would help. As this is being held on a velodrome all racers will have to be licensed, dare I say even a race license. I'm just trying to narrow down the field of people who could possibly beat me. Also, juniors don't count, that should be a separate title as they have shorter legs.

Ah, but its not on the velodrome, its inside the blue line :)

Training - you can borrow the monkey bike and ride it to Waterfall

I'm thinking we can have a 3 stage tour and add up the times;
1. Flying 20
2. 333 time trail
3. Hill climb - inside of velodrome out thru the gate to the grandstand, finishing where Arthur collects the money.

From memory I've tried to ride it up hill, I don't think I made it up.

Should we develop a handicap system based on leg length?

Reminds me of a 'the goodies' where the devised 'apartheight' so Bill Oddie had to do all the work
