OK - Stuart has finally ordered my long awaited TWE wheels for my bike. The deal was he did the research and bought them and I just had to approve the look. I ended up having to sacrifice the red blade spokes I always wanted, but for 1270 grams I can live without the red blade spokes.

ANyway - question to all you bike techno heads. WHat tyres are good or what should I get. I have had gater skins on my bike for the last year and a half and have not had 1 flat tyre. SO you can imagine my tyre changing skills are poor, but having got these wheels which may make me go .00001 seconds faster - I guess I should get some applicable tyres. ANyway - any suggestions welcome.

I'm assuming as this is in the road section, then these new wheels are for the road bike, therefor;
- GP4000s Chilli or
- Pro3race

If they are for the track, then get Supersonics

I just did my first ride on the attack/force tyres. I bought from wiggle.co.uk for $108 a pair. They work, but only come in black.

Problem with Conti's Attack/Force combo is that they aren't suitable for tyre rotation (old front to back, old back to trash). When the rear is worn, you have to change them in pairs and then tend to use the front to greater wear before change than when the front-rear rotation plan is in force.

As Mike said, GP4000S, GP4000 with Black Chili or Pro3Race are the obvious candidates.

Just be aware that there are 3 models in the Conti GP4000 range and don't order the wrong one.

GP4000: The previous version. It's a nice tyre but without the latest sticky Black Chili compound.

GP4000 with Black Chili: As above but with the new compound.

GP4000S: With Black Chili and slightly higher thread count.

I've used all three. The biggest performance change was with the introduction of of the Black Chili compound. My first ride with it was a wow moment. But I didn't feel anything obvious with GP4000S other than the same Black Chili compound. So I would buy GP4000S if there's a good discount, otherwise GP4000 with Black Chili is more than good enough.

I find the GP4000 to be better than the Force/Attack, not sure why, but that's what i've experienced. Black Chili is only in the black tyres, so stick with black GP4000's. Haven't tried the Michelins yet, so i won't comment, but another option would be Schwalbe Ultremo's.
