Hey guys Rocky point road cycles is closing down in two weeks and Terry is selling off all the stock at excellent prices. I've just upgraded my track bike (frame) & training wheels just because of the cheap prices with some really top quality stuff.

He still has a chain rings, a set of mavic ellipse track wheels, a few pairs of mavic road wheels (ksyriums & aksiums from memory), a 54cm teschner track frame, a look road frame (not sure of the size), a teschner road bike, a carry box & lots of other stuff like helmets, clothes etc.

Well worth checking out!!!

Funny I just dropped by Terry to check whether he had the 3mm washer that goes between the left hollowtech crankarm and the BB cup (it fell off somehow, and the entire crank is moving laterally and I am so frustrated, but thats a different story).

I noticed stocks were thin, but it did not occur to me he was closing down. In hindsight, it should have been obvious.

So why is he closing down? I have had limited dealings with that shop, but these have always been great. These guys are always happy to talk to you!!!

Personal reasons. He has just decided it is time to move on...

It has been an excellent shop for us over the last few years, Tez and the boys have always looked after us well. It will be much missed. I haven't yet decided what shop will be next. The thing about Tez is he always stocked track parts which most shops don't. So I"ll have to find another track friendly shop.

You might give Burwood Cycleworld a try. They're not bad for track stuff.

Lets not talk about it.... But yes I have upgraded my machine...

On another note though, I picked up some mavic ellipse track wheels for training/outdoor + club racing and they are very nice. They're clinchers, not quite in the same class as my pistas but have really beautiful hubs on them. It has been a very bizzare week for me, I didn't really ever expect to buy what I have but it was offered at a price I couldn't refuse...

Before there is masters there is a thing called A grade you know guys & that is the optimal place to ride good quality equipment....

Today I added Easton Carbon bars....

I've got to say though, down in Wagga we were testing the flexion of stems/bars/forks etc on our road bikes and were quite surprised how much they all moved & wondered if it was normal? This bike doesn't budge a bit, it is super stiff and is actually quite heavy for a carbon frame with no componentry but the basics on it. It's poetry in motion for the sprinter, forget those 80kg weight limits, more like 140kgs....

Nice.

They're claimed to be 15% stronger and 50% stiffer than steel. That's pretty impressive.

Yeah that's the ones, I'm hoping they are as stiff as they say. They aren't actually carbon bars perse I've been informed they're carbon wrapped aluminum, so they don't split the moment you fall. I'm picking up the bike fully built this avo. Very much looking forward to it!

Here's the bike fully prepared. Of course the steerer is to be choped and bars added. For interest sake it still weights about 8kgs with steel bars on! That's more than most road bikes!

Its been an exciting week. When I think about how good a machine this really is versus what it cost me, I'm very a very happy man. I really can't wait to light it up at the state titles, particularly the points, scratch, onium. & the of course my the pursuit.

Has anyone else actually bought anything? It's a fantastic opportunty...

If i had time i wouldn't mind getting a 49T chainring, but exams at the moment are limiting any time i have. Plus i'm considering waiting for PBK to get more Dura-Ace chainrings in stock (may just go with 48T).

On my road bike i'm pretty sure the flex would be coming from either the stem or fork steerer, as the bars are solid enough. My track bike has minimal movement, though it has a slightly heavier and shorter stem (120mm ITM millenium vs 130mm Ritchey WCS), and the steerer is chromoly vs carbon (not the stiffest carbon steerer around). However, for my weight it's all stiff enough, and i expect a slight improvement to the road bike when i upgrade shortly.

Airbrushing can cost a bit, so a decal would be cheaper. Can be had for under $10 on ebay.

A small tin of Tamiya modeler's white paint and a fine brush might just do the trick.
