A Brisbane man who entered his neighbour's apartment and got dressed up in the man's cycling outfit was so drunk he thought he was in his own home, a court has heard.
Nicholas Bruce O'Keefe, 22, climbed into the Dunmore Terrace apartment in Auchenflower through a window on the night of December 5 last year.
O'Keefe, who actually lived two doors down, rummaged through a cupboard full of health supplements before rooting around in drawers and cupboards in a bedroom.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Karen Friedrichs said the apartment's owner returned home some time later to find O'Keefe in the loungeroom, wearing the man's cycling gloves, bike helmet and tampering with his bicycle.
O'Keefe pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today to one count of entering a dwelling and stealing.
Representing himself, O'Keefe said he had been "extremely intoxicated" at the time and only realised his mistake when the police turned up.
"I actually believed I was in my own house," O'Keefe said.
"I only realised what was happening when police arrived to arrest me."
O'Keefe, who has now moved to Toowoomba, apologised to the court, saying he had never been in trouble before.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan accepted O'Keefe's explanation and fined him $200, sparing him a criminal conviction.

AUSTRALIA'S Aborigines have the worst life expectancy rates of any indigenous population in the world, a United Nations report has revealed.
Of the 90 countries examined by the report, indigenous people in Australia and Nepal fared the worst, dying 20 years earlier than their non-indigenous counterparts.
In Guatemala the life expectancy gap is 13 years and in New Zealand it is 11.
The UN report, State of the World's Indigenous Peoples, which was released late yesterday, showed how indigenous populations across the world faced violence, continuing assimilation policies, marginalisation, forced removal, relocation and were denied land rights on a daily basis.
Indigenous people experienced disproportionately high levels of maternal and infant mortality, malnutrition, cardiovascular illnesses and HIV and other infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis.

"We will not have provided solutions to all the challenges we face until indigenous people have true participation and are real partners in efforts to close the gap in health, education, housing and have access to the same human rights protections as other Australians."
The UN report stated that 370 million people, or about five per cent of the world's inhabitants, were indigenous.
Indigenous people constitute about one-third of the world's 900 million extremely poor rural people.

Obviously you want a dance instructor who has a cat, has spent time dancing with it and knows how to help others interact with their cats through the dance. Often dance instructors who are familiar with Pilates, Feldenkrais, Tai Chi or Yoga may be more sensitive to the energy aligning aspect of cat dancing and it may be useful to aim your initial inquiries in that direction.

As most cats do not take kindly to a sudden change in environment, especially one where other cats may be present along with loud music and dancing, people do not bring their cats to class. Instead they use stuffed (toy) cats. Most dance studios that offer cat dancing classes require students to buy their own. When I used to work for Westpac, back in the 2nd last decade of last century, we all had passwords to log in to the network on the old computers they used to use.
You had to log in almost every time you used the computers. If you had not made a keystroke for about a minute, it logged you out. I think about 1 in 5 people had "qwerty" as their password as a result.
In my case, I noticed there was a button on the keyboard that actually put two zeros onscreen if you pressed it: "00". An obvious advantage when dealing with money all day long...
So my password was actually "000000", but I could log in with only 3 keystrokes instead of 6. Yay!

Correct. Electric bikes are huge in Asia. It's introduction in Australia will be fought by both motorists and cyclists though.

There are all sorts of weird rules about how much power an electric bike is allowed to have before it must be registered. At present, the threshold is pretty low, I understand, so the few legal e-bikes are more or less useless.
I have a suspicion e-bikes will cause major problems on our bike paths yet too slow on our roads. It'll cause frictions with both groups. It's quite different in Asia and other places where they are used on wider roads and "slow lanes". Otherwise I've ridden within them in Beijing. Great to draft off on a windy day but can be dropped with a bit of effort.

hey my world ranking is moving down in the points race i was 203 or so, now im 209
Im above scott law though
and i cant see any one else from our club on the list (though simon is 130 or so for the scratch race)
we are 300 and some thingth in the maddison, scott law and alex carver are about 40th!! they are killing us
Im beating travis myer in the points race though, michael morkov is only 8 spots above me

I don't see the loosely fanned out riders showing any evidence of it being a "critical mass" ride. To other road users, they appeared to be a bunch of hooligans on the road, deliberately causing complete obstruction of one side of the road. The unanswered question of course is why the "perp's" car was on the other side of the (overengineered) median strip. It looks like they did a U-turn to join in the party!

The action of those riders in the video are asking for it by unnecessarily blocking the whole road. Think what you'd do if you are in a hurry to get to some where and got stuck behind this bunch of guys, a bunch of riders who had no signs out showing they are in a demonstration but just wildly block a public road. Further, think of all the flare ups of drivers who deliberately block our paths. These are the root cause of road rage incidents.
So I think at the end of the day, it's a common cohort of human beings with similar unforgiving they vs us mentality. The way forward is to be considerate and smartly play the influence game.
