Any recommendations?

I am looking for a rear bicycle light that can attach to either the rear stays or pannier rack, that has a good battery life or is rechargeable. Any recommendation? I find the ones that attach to the seat post annoying...

Cheers

I've been thinking of getting 2 of PDW RADBOT 1000 Rear LED Bike Light $21 each + postage

Have been recommended to me by someone else who had no issues with wet weather. I haven't used them. I use rechargeable batteries.

I've been using the Radbot for a couple of years and I think it's reaching the end of it's life.
Moisture does get in and the contacts are corroding. They can be cleaned up with sandpaper or steel wool however this is happening more often so I'll either get another or look for something else.
They are very bright.

I've got a light and motion viz 180. It's stupid bright ( makes a Radnor seem dim), USB rechargeable ( which I like), and bombproof. It gets wet regularly. It even survived falling off at 60 km an hour descending into bobbin head (user error, not the lights fault). It would mount on any normal diameter seat stay. A couple of screws shoul also enable rack mounting.

The viz 180 micro specifically says it can be rack mounted. Smaller, cheaper, not as bright. Still brighter than a Radbot.

I want mine to die so I can buy a redzone 8. But I don't think it's going to.

I can vouch for the effectiveness of this little beaut having witnessed it only very occasionally when I was behind Lizanne today.

I plan on buying one for my commuting experiences.

I was attracted this the fibre flare - bought one - but it packed up after a month or so and I sent it back for a refund. I might have just got a dud. I wasn't that impressed with battery life either.

My 2 cents.

Either you got a dud Jon, or I got an unusually good one - it's been the most reliable of my rear lights, and I've been impressed with the battery life.

I saw Michelles bike with Reelights Sl100 and like the 'put on and forget' nature. No batteries, no need to take off recharge, and fiddle with putting them back on.
It Flashes when you are riding. there are Sl 200 and other versions with capacitors as well.

Edit: just found there is an Aussie distributor too

I've never known a battery powered or usb rechargable light to last more than two years so I always believe in spending up on a dynamo lighting system for utility cycling.

I know a lot of people who like the Reelilghts, but I've also seen many of them come back to the shop I work in so can't really recommend them. They're also no good for seeing the road. They're main use is to be seen by traffic and event then the amount of light they put out is pretty small.

My current favourite for a seatstay mounted rear light is the Serfas Thunderbolt (USB) (UTL-6) Taillight.

Thanks all! It's tough to make a decision.
