I am looking to get a set of rollers to train over winter.

Are they all the same? Any recommendations?

What is your budget?

Kreitler = arguably the best.

Hey me Aimee and perhaps the club are interested in a group buy. I wanted action minouras, they are a lot better to transport. If any one finds the best deal we can do a group buy, I also need to get back to Burwood about what they could do

I can speak to City Bike Depot and see what sort of pricing they can get on rollers. So I'm guessing I should ask for the price of around 5 sets?

Burwood rang me back, and they will get me a price on what they can do tomorrow. Eleri bought a pair of Figmo rollers there they said, Id have to see those as well, is that these? http://www.edge-design.com.tw/html/prod ... g%20Roller

The ones for the track could be best off with what ever is sturdiest really, we dont need them to fold up

Let me know what you think Tim. I'm interested in some rollers but don't want to spend heaps. The Figmo ones look similar (frame is slightly different) to these, but it's hard to know without seeing in person.

Anyone is welcome to try my Figmos and I'll bring it to RAW on Friday night. In Lindsay's view they are a bit more resistant ride than some others. I've fallen off them a few times, but i don't think that's the fault of the rollers.

Alternatively you could talk me into Wednesday night at the track.

I think the Figmo's are the ones Christian has.

I don't like them and think they have too much resistance on them to be good for doing things like heart rates, but that might just be me. My Kreitlers are freakin awesome.

oh that would be heaps cool Ellery, Aimee is already not that into the deal we can get, but we can all talk about it at raw.
People ussually fall off about three or four times while learning rollers :) I think one of mine was fainting, in front of all the hardcore little aussie champ riders too, which made it worse!@

(hey the pics in that last set of rollers posted up have been taken with the band not in place? why would they do that?!)

the club is now looking at just buying the kreitler barrels and making the rest in an unfoldable option.

I would really just like some actions, but Christian reckons the ends of the barrels come off these days. They have been recomended by every one including one of the USA cycling coaches on my facebook, and a lot of institutes of sport plus state and national teams have them, but i dont know if they have changed the way they made them since every one bought them.

I have been doing a bit of a web trawl and there seems to be a lot of variables including dia. of the roller (some are 3" some 4.5" etc.), other models come with all sorts of resistance gizmo's as well.

What diameter drum would you recommend?

Is all the other stuff just not necessary?

Are Kreitlers really worth the extra?

I want the biggest drum. The smaller drums seem to have a lot more resistance. Kreitlers suck to transport a bit, but are supposed to be the best to ride. Assuming they dont get wrecked in the way Christian has talked about, the minouras are good too though, simons have never wrecked like that, but a pair at the track have, I dont know if looking after this could prevent this, the minouras are the best for transport too.

I'm in too, for a group buy. I've been wanting a set for a while but couldn't be bothered doing the research, so this is perfect! I want to take them to my farm and sit on the deck and watch the cows and the birds while I ride.

These seem to be the bees knees of rollers.

I'm not sure what $ they went for in Jul 2011 , but they are back on sale for $140+15 delivery
There's also another $100(+15 delivery) version

(one of the comments implied with a bit of DIY you can make these 'Free Motion Rollers' )
