Well, the other day i found this site

You can watch your cycling via peer2peer, though for Qatar it looks like you'll need to install sopcast (easily done). The only problem is you can only watch live, which left me up late last night watching cyclocross.
amazing link james!!

Hey today we did the randwick hills ride, i did it fixed, and fat tony (anthony) did some big ear riding, julio just road along and pumped us up. We missed the bunch due to a flat before hand, probably lucky though, we went pretty slowly down the hills.

Tomorrow may be our first attempt at the fixie national park ride, im thinking waterfall entrence, i dont think it will be possible to do it the other way with out maybe changing down a gear or two. But yeah, this ride isnt locked in, and it will effect our track training a bit id say :S

Tim (irish) the other day I said I saw a bunch riding past my house out towards the airport...well I found out who they are

http://www.sutherlandshirecyclingclub.o ... ining.html

Beaches Ride
Tuesday and Thursday - Each week of the Year - Depart from the Shell Service Station (Cnr Paraweena Rd) at Taren Point about 5.05am either just in front or with the tri bunch but unless they are cooking, we're off. Same as Tri Ride (See above) to Botany then Wentworth Ave, Mascot across Marourbra Rd. to Arden St. through Coogee, Clovelly, Bronte, Tamarama, Bondi beach. From here, Cashy has devised a new route up Curlewis St. Bondi to Birriga Rd Climbing through Bellvue Hill and back down onto New South Hd. Rd. and back into the cross via the old route just in time to do a turn at the front of the Calutzi bunch departing the cross at 6.20. Returns to Caringbah at 7.15.
This is a high quality ride (fast and hilly) and is not suitable if you are just starting out ! Tuesday is a hard pace with Thurs. backed off a notch.

You want k's, click onto the back of this group then either cruise over to then Randwick gates to see if we can hang onto the Randwick/Botany hills ride, or we join the Coluzzi Ride out to Cronulla and back.

a work friend passed this awesome spread sheet for logging all of your rides. i have been using it for a while now and it is unreal.

it shows all of your rides individually, by month and by year. The main page displays all of the information in a very simple graph which logs it against your set targets and goals. . It also keeps a running log of all expenses you have and maintenance.

Finally got myself organised enough to get to an early Randwick Bontany CC ride. Arrived way to early and did a couple of laps of the park. Saw Vic ride past, then Mark and Jo a bit later. Glad I didn't get dropped, because I had no idea where I was most of the time. Seems they went down some hills just to ride back up them.

I guess you are talking about the hills on the way back. It does seem like they do that, but it is a good ride. I'll be back doing this ride next week.

hey i just realised some thing about lead outs. I know its race simulation, so in theory if you dont come out first, you dont win, but if you end up just beside the rider in front of you, then in theory they have beaten you, but you have actually dont the lead out faster than them, though i guess if your on their wheel then your supposed to, as you have a wind advantage, but every one except the first wheel has that, depending on how early second wheel takes first wheel etc, so if you are third, then second takes first early then you sit on them, and take them later, then second may have put in more effort than you. But as you go further back its more and more effort to do all this, as you have to go so wide, to taking a couple of spots from last wheel is a good effort.

But yeah, just feeling slow because i only took one place in three lead outs last night, though all my efforts ended with me above half way for a lot of the corner, and all times i was taking the rider in front of me on the strai, just didnt get them.

Yeah i know its training, but trying to put it in perspective. Either way, im sticking to the back in lead outs, or some where from third wheel onwards.

Great lead out by john last night.

First commute in on it. Gearing felt a bit big at 48x16, might need a 17 for the back. Could just require a few rides to get used to though.

48x16 = 81 inches. Didn't cause me too much of an issue going up hill or starting, I could just do with a bit more spin in my day.

I've ridden on 83 inches, got over Anzac bridge no problem but it was a chore to ride, rather than being a pleasure.

Well finished my first commute on the 'new' bike. I found it surprisingly enjoyable, as I would consider myself someone who enjoys road more than track, and using the appropriate gears for the situation. Anzac bridge and Lilyfield Rd weren't an issue on 81 inches - I thought it would be harder but momentum is definitely on your side when climbing with a fixed gear. Riding a steel frame was also very enjoyable - very smooth ride quality. Still pretty slow cornering but that should improve with practice.

Now that I have a spare bike to ride to work, I can dress my road bike up in race livery tonight.

Well done on the new bike - that colnago was far too nice to commute on.

I think 80-81 inches is a good commuting gear. Over to north ryde there is a hill steeper than lilyfield rd, and I found 75 really painful riding down that hill, so I ended up on 80 and that seems about right except for days pushing into a headwind when I end up spending too much time standing on the pedals.

All this talk of people riding on 80 or 81 inches for a fixie commuter are making me feel like a wimp. I converted my commuter to a single speed, and it is a 26" mountain bike. It has 1.5" slicks on it with 40/14 as the gearing. Which means I am on...

71 inches.

Gee, I'm feeling really soft right now.

Wow, your legs must be flying! Because you have 26" wheels, this actually makes the gear you're riding equivallent to about 67 inches in the roll out.

I was under the impression that when talking in inches, that you are talking about the effective diameter of the rear wheel, not it's rollout.

On my road bike, my computer has a rollout distance of 2097, which is about 82.5", so on a 1:1 ratio, my rollout is 82.6", so even in my lowest gear, my rollout is 128.8".

However, if you look at effective diameter, then it is only 41", which sounds a lot more reasonable.

In relation to the inches on a my commuter, I already considered that I am on 26x1.5" tyres, so the original figure of 71" is correct.

I listen to music when I ride on my own, but at a low level so I can still hear cars etc.

The only race I would listen to music in is a mountain bike race, and I wouldn't listen to it in bunch rides.

But on an up note, i now have a gym membership, and have taken up pilates :D i have all these new muscles! and Anthony put me through a core strength work out, so im working towards some stomach muscles! i feel totally solid on the bike, especially in time trial sorta stuff. I dont reckon im actually getting a whole heap faster, as im not riding that much more, have been training 6 days a week, but only the track stuff, though days like today i may not even get on a bike any more than the excercise one at the gym for warm up and down :S

260km of suffering, and i was ready to pull the pin after really struggling up Macquarie Pass at 120km, but 2 pies seemed to save the day.

Mechanicals: 1 x broken spoke, 1 x low pressure tubeless tyre for close to 100km, before it finally gave up in Earlwood and i had to chuck a tube in.

What time?
Ooooo, can I come along and we ride at a nice slow pace? I am not very experienced at riding my fixie on the road...

I'm not fussed by pace, whatever everyone wants to ride. I haven't been out fixed for some time.

Early start

So I should get to the hill without being dropped

Fixie Friday

If no one turns up at my place by 6am, I'll go to the gym instead

Don't ride off the front in Grafton or you'll pay for it later on.

lol, i cant do it either way, but yeah, if your riding a fixie to train for the fixie ride, you probably need to go and ride either up hills or down hills, or just on a really long ride, i dont think just riding any where flat would make a massive diff, unless you do it really fast, like maybe the thursday morning ride with randwick, though you dont need to be that fast.

The name fixie friday does make a good name for a ride if you are looking for some thing thats just about riding fixies for the fun of it, and aiming to drink coffee, or kill each other on bikes or some thing like that though.
