Only a few DHBC riders were seen at Heffron this week.

After my dismal performance in F Grade nearly 18 months ago when I last raced (steam rollered by Joe G and Big John), I thought it was time to reappear, having recovered from the Tassie Tour (at last) and my 7 race tri season over. In near perfect conditions, I had very pleasant, casual, near social ride for the first 7 laps. The instructions from the other riders had been "take no prisoners on the last lap".
After making the jump at the final kilometre I pushed to the limit and at last managed a satisfying finish (and almost sprint) for the length of the straight.
Another Dulwich rider (Michael ? . . .sorry I forgot) took second place in E Grade.

Congratulations Stretch on your Win. Your in form
On Sat the wind had a lot of East in it = not much help on any 'real' bits of the course
Winter sports seem to be now activated at Heffron, thus the odd ball etc may cross ur path
E grade
Nick rode in E as did I - 2nd again...I'm promoting myself to D... maybe
I saw Geoff, Chris and Christian in D grade and Alex was there having a look at precedings

Well done Stretch and Michael,

Michael, wait to you get the 1st place as it could be awhile in D grade until you get your next.

Chris, Christian and I set off in a group of 16. Pace was quite OK at 34kms per hour.

Chris was doing all the work at the front, and I had to ride up and tell him to back off and take a rest for the rest of the race in 5th or 6th spot. He thanked me later when he started to tire.

Christian did quite a bit of work towards the end at the front. He was a bit impatient with the pace.

I seemed to be sitting in OK until I got caught napping at the back just after the bell when the pace suddenly went up by about 6kms per hour.

So - don't sit at the back! Simple.

I think Chris and Christian were in the sprint coming about 5th and 6th.

Sorry I didn't join you Michael L.

It seems as you have ownership of second position.

Congratulation Nick on first place in E grade and all the other DH riders in D grade.

Even after I said I was just going to sit on the back until the final sprint I just couldn't help myself. Next time, maybe.

Christian, We should practice lead-outs (specific to a Heffron sprint) sometime. I could lead-out you, Nick, Matt and whoever esle is there for that final sprint.

Dam, forgot to encript this post before Beanzy read it :D

D Grade Average speed by my clock 35.0km/h on lap 14. I pulled out on the final lap due to puncture.

I might have to try and keep up with E Grade, although F Troop are a nice social bunch.
