Just an update on how DHBC hipsters are doing at the Tour of August.

Bro's still leading E grade after today's Stage 3 win at the Regatta Centre. Taku won the prime and came 7th. John Caley got fifth.

I won the most ridiculous solo break award in B grade, which is an imaginary award I just made up, but think I deserve. I was also helped for a couple of laps by Conor Keirnan from MCCC, who is clearly as mad as me.

Stage 2 (Razorback Hillclimb TT) a few weekends ago saw Bro take 2nd, John take 3rd and Taku take 4th in E. I got a 2nd in B.

Even earlier than that, on Stage 1, Bro was the only DHBC contender, and won that too... so if you need a loan, he's certainly in the money at the moment.

Next week, Stage 4, is at Lansdowne. The week after, Stage 5, is the Oakville Road Race.

Yes, there were a few comments from other E graders about Bro being more than 50 years younger than a couple of his competitors but all good natured. I've already hit him up for a contribution towards entry fees. By the way he actually only placed second in the the first race at Landsdowne.
This was my first road race if you dont count the razorback hill climb. Like James, I rode a few laps off the front (of E grade though) but unlike him I can't blame my getting caught on a flat tire. I also dragged the bunch round a couple of laps including pegging back Taku who had stayed away after winning the sprint. Then Bro asked for a leadout before the final sprint. I obliged and he shot past up the little rise over the bridge with three mature age LACC riders in hot pursuit. I couldn't even grab a wheel so I was pleased that Bro held on for his first win on the road. I might try D grade next week at Lansdowne.

Doing Landsdowne Park Criterium tomorrow (Saturday 24/8/13) as part of the LACC tour of August.
Sign On: 7:30am
C, D & E Grade race 8am
A & B grade race 9am
Its a nice track according to Bro and James R - leafy with bends and nice little hills
Last time it was 35 minutes plus 2 laps for E grade. I'm not sure about the other grades.

Results: Bro 3rd, Taku 5th in E grade. John C rode D but the brains trust doesn't remember where he came, and I rode B and came 10th, or 8th, or 7th.
