Anyone who eschews coffee at Bundeena and chooses Cronulla will be making an egregious mistake. Voice of experience.

Is the route to waterfall gonna be similar to the normal sunday waterfall ride (passing through west botany road)?
If yes we want join the group at the intersection of west botany road and bestic st. if everyone is ok with it - don't need to stop there, we'll wait at the intersection and join in once the group arrived.
Otherwise we'll be down at MRC at 6am..

Yes, we will ride the usual route to Waterfall, so see you at West Botany rd (don't be late). If riders want we can do the big dipper at Sutherland.

Pace is that of the slowest rider, so don't worry about being dropped, its a no drop ride. Fast riders will challenge themselves in the park.

Just letting everyone know that there are a few slower/less stronger riders in this group (myself, Colin & Nick). Us puny humans are happy to get dropped as there are enough of us to keep pursuit in a smaller group, particularly as this is our first time into the RNP. Other slowies/puny humans are also welcome to join us.

Cheers,
Rajiv

Unfortunately the weather conditions are not suitable for riding thru RNP, so go back to sleep.

OK, I've rescheduled Bundeena Ferry Adventure Ride to 6am Sunday 30th June. The weather forecast only goes to Saturday at the moment and can be best summed up as crap during the week but less crappy as the week goes on.

There will be those on the list who won't be able to make the revised date, so I'll start the list again;

Bundeena Ferry Adventure Ride - 6am Sunday 30th June
====================================
Mike - drinks coffee

Anyway to find out information about that and other conditions in the park?

All other roads in RNP will be open. Waterfall used to get closed sometimes prior to the bridge being put in, nowadays its good.

Of course we're not even crossing Audley Weir :?
Although once I did on the bike while there was a car abandoned with water up to the doors.
Here's hoping for a respite from the rain tomorrow morning at least.
Have a great ride,
Peter

Cancelled, go back to bed

Constant drizzle overnight and its still going. And that's the edge of something worse

Don't re-schedule the adventure ride and it may stop raining

The weather forecast is sunny from Tuesday.

I've run out of slots, I'm busy for the next 3 Sundays

So who wants to host it?

The adventure ride looks doomed - but at least I got 50ks in at CP when it cleared up (well... only a couple of brief showers). Might bring the week's riding up to 60. :(

Reminder, I can no longer host this ride, we need someone to run this ride

It's not that hard to host the ride, all you need to do is;
1. Choose the route (already done)
2. Set the date/time (next Sunday would be great, but your choice)
3. Post on the forum (Stuart or I will update the heading)
4. Answer anyone's questions (Like "how many coffees do you think we can drink at Bundenna?")
5. Turn up on time [OK that may be a challenge]

Mike,
I'm more than happy to host this ride this Sunday, 7th July, leaving Marrickville Road Cafe at 6am.
Do I need to be a qualified ride leader?

Hi Guys,

I'm happy to be ride leader. However, I'm currently suffering a knee injury so will have to see how I go at the physio today. Serves me right for running I guess...!

Will put my name down tomorrow if that's the case.

It's also the Women's Rapha 100 for those who are on Strava (I believe men and women can both participate).

I'm not 100% sure on the route from
Cronulla but am sure we can figure it out.

Still keen to do this ride, I guess without a qualified ride leader then this will not be a sanctioned club ride.
Anyway the plan is still to depart MRC at 6am, ride to Bundeena through the RNP (enter at Waterfall), enjoy a tasty beverage and perhaps a snack at Bundeena, catch the ferry to Cronulla then ride back to Marrickville. Easy :D

Not much of an adventure ride with so few riders - what do you think guys, should we pull the plug?

There does seem to be a lack of interest.
Maybe we should postpone until ... I don't know, any ideas.

Not so much lack of interest as lack of recent riding dented my confidence to be able to keep up. I would like to do the ride in the future and (importantly) enjoy it. Sorry Peter but it is Waterfall for me on Sunday too.

I know we haven't finished the July ride as yet, but this looks like a beautiful future adventure ride option:
http://www.rapha.cc/womens-100-sydney?c ... k-_-sydney

And here's the route:

Just putting it out there...

Cheers,
Rajiv

Hi Rajiv,

That is the ride Eleri and I did on the weekend:
http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3875

It has been the route of previous rides and is indeed, excellent. You can also add West Head and an extra 40km (with a beautiful vista at the end of it).

We are trying to organise a more regular adventure rides (and Mike does a great job of doing this) so keep an eye on this thread.

Jo

"Most of these rides, while not quick (C25+) are quite long. Riders must of completed 3 rides to waterfall. If you a new but fairly fit, please contact the ride organiser and discuss. Most of the routes are designed to allow each of us to have fun at our own levels, for example the fast riders will gun it up a big hill and wait at the top for the other riders. In between these 'challenge' sections the group will ride together at the speed comfortable to the slowest rider."

I hope that the above from page 1 still applies as some (much!) faster riders are joining. Whilst I qualify I don't want to annoy by being too slow!

And if anyone really wants to unleash the furry they can do it the hills in RNP as we re group once we get up there (and I fully expect Keith to do this having dominated the peaks of the French Alps this week)...

I've realised I've been volunteered to do photo lessons for the Wolli Creek Preservation Society's National Tree Day event (man that's a mouthful). So I won't have time to do Bundeena. If I'm feeling fast I might roll out with you and just do a park lap.

I did Bundeena on Sunday and can recommend the the coffee at Cafe Cookie right on the pedestrian crossing corner of Bundeena Drive and Brighton Street, where the fringe cafe used to be.

I'll keep my name on the list, but if I'm not there at 6, don't wait for me. Otherwise I'll see you all then, I'll be hammering the hills and happily resting at the top. I love resting at the top.
