Hi All,

Are there any roadies keen for a spin on Thursday? Weather permitting I'm up for a ride, possibly Waterfall? Cruisers pace.

Cheers,

Noel

I'd be up for something in the morning but I broke the cable to my front derailleur :(

Anybody happen to have a spare Campagnolo 10 spd power-shift cable? I have two on the way but they won't get here in time.

Know how you feel. Just got my bike back after cracking the frame a week before chrissy. Orbea have come through with the goods last weekend. Can't help with Campy spares though....

Ok. Plan: Meet @ 6.30 - Marrickville Rd Cafe and ride out to Waterfall. RNP will be an option depending on who is keen on a bit more exercise. Pace will be relaxed and will ride to maintain the bunch (so far 2 people).

I'll be watching the BOM as I will bail if wet (new virgin frame).

Or failing that just buy one from a LBS, it will only be 5 dollars or so.

James has kindly given me a front derailleur cable so I'll be repairing my bike either tonight or tomorrow!

So I'm in assuming it's not raining when I wake up... Are we planning on stopping at the cafe when we get back?

Not riding anywhere near Sutherland on Australia day after last year's efforts. You should all be home by the time the flag-draped bullbars come out, but in any case please be very careful.

I'm out, partly due to the fact it looks like it's going to piss down all day, but mainly on medical advise. And as Rhys says, watch out for the Aus day bogan patrols.

Maaaaaate, you'll be right if you ride in thongs, stubbies and a blue wife beater. Added protection would come in the form of an Aussie flag as a cape.......
Additional points for an "Aussie Pride" decal on the downtube and a "We Grew, You Flew" sticker on the seat stays

I just found out. There's no Lamb in Lammingtons!

Perhaps decide whether or not to take the Australian flag after reading this story ...

A weather check will be in order. I'll be up @ 5.30 and will make a call then. I'll post my personal decision then. At the moment, it's looking to be quite wet...

Yuk.
Narrow minded yobs who think along those lines will pick on any minority/weaker group in order to boost their own poor self esteem.
If it is not 'ethnics', blacks, GLBT or women, these yobs will gladly go after alternatives such as cyclists.
As an person of 'ethnic' persuasion, the 2 times of the year I try not to put myself in a vulnerable or exposed situation are on Australia Day and Anzac Day.

I fixed my bike but I don't think I'm going to make it tomorrow, went pretty hard on the trainer tonight, don't think I'll be up early enough tomorrow and I'm almost certain it's going to be raining :P

If you do go and it isn't raining feel free to make me feel bad about it :P

I'm thinking about this. Will see how the weather develops.

Cyclists have been making the trip to Waterfall for over 120 years, DHBC for probably a century. Pathetic that flag-waving idiots think they have some kind of mortgage on Australia Day.

I woke up at 8am and the weather actually looks ok now, glad to see it didn't happen anyway or I'd have been really kicking myself :P

Michele P and Pete T rode to the top of Mount Buffalo. The rest of us went to the Railtrack cafe on an easy 20km or something roll. It's quite nice here in Bright!
