Please note this is not the Johnny Warren ride. The route does overlap with the Johnny Warren for part of it and the intention is that we will travel those roads prior to the Johnny Warren using them.

What happened to you mike after we dropped you at Grand Parade? YOu obviously re-met up with Lacey and co? I didn't think you were feeling well.

Once I eliminated rear brake rub my performance increased considerably and despite having a 10 minute chat to a friend in Engadene I caught up at the Gary beach sign.

I descended Macquarie pass in the pouring rain with 3 metres of visibility, canti brakes and a loaded trailer on Sunday. I would not recommend that.

I reckon the climb would be tops though!

Sounds scary Vic

When we went down for the Fixie Century, I saw Grahame (RBCC) going up. A last training ride before the Grafton. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think its the biggest hill that can be ridden to from Marrickville

It's probably the biggest hill you can ride to and from in one day, not the biggest hill you can ride to from marrickville.

I hadn't give which mountain it would be much thought. Canberra is rideable in a day, there is a big hill there. I'll have to do some research and get back to you. I also never said it had to be in one day did I. The original question didn't mention this.

It's hell out there in the hills, and nobody is ever known to have returned.

I can't do it this weekend. Maybe next?

The highway is fine, not sure about bells line, and you can just leave early and head straight down parramatta road to jump on the M4 at Parramatta.

I like the google map, it says you can walk it in 2 days and 3 hours. I'm up for the challenge, that's an average pace of 4.73 km/h, I could do that but I don't know about not sleeping for that long and still being able to walk.

I think Mt Barrengarry on the Nowra/Moss Vale Rd is harder than Macq Pass. Similar vertical but shorter (if you count the Macq pass hill as starting at the Macq pass sign at the bottom to the train tracks before Robertson at the top). I think Macq pass is easier cause of that flattish bit about halfway up where you can recover for the top section. That said, Macq Pass and Barrengarry are only 20mins ride from each other, so its easy to do both and see for yourself!

I don't remember Mt Barrengarry being that bad, but I did do it on a touring bike with some pretty small gears.

well its no tourmalet, and there are probably harder climbs around nsw/aus, i just think its harder than macq pass...

out of interest, does anyone know their best times up macq pass? say from the macq pass signs at the bottom and and top of the hill? reckon we could get a leaderboard - who is the best climber in the club?

Might look at a route feasibility for Mt Barrengarry too. The number of options is growing.

Has anyone apart from Mark L, T-Bone, Kiwiamies and Adrian E climbed macq pass?

Thinking about giving Macq Pass, Cambewarra and Barrengarry a shot over the weekend - with Bob, so it's going to hurt but I am pretty sure it will be twice the fun.

mike - barrengarry is really only an option from sydney if you detour down it and straight back up when you go through robertson on the way back to the freeway.if you try and include it in a loop you have to go all the way to nowra, which starts to become a pretty massive ride...

Noog - what day are you going?i was going to spend next week with my olds who live at robertson.i might ride down and meet you guys in w'gong and do the leg to mittagong with you?

hey we did the godess ride, and now reserve the right to call our selves godesses :D
We would have called it the coffee and pies ride though instead. We had coffee in Woollongong, I had skim milk, I think John had full cream, and Aaran (the lad from sydney city (who studies nursing with me)) had skim, we have heard that it has more carbs in it.

Aaron beat me up the hill by 7 mins, which we think was still 5 mins or so slower than Chugg, and only John had an actual pie at the pie shop?! we stuck to chocolate milk. On the way back Aaron didnt like the 50kmph average, and my butt seriosly cracked! i could hardly sit down by the end of it.

But yes, i will now answer to Mr godess, I dont know Johns preference but I really feel like a man after that ride.
