I've entered

From the info, it appears to be on last years TT course, 20k for masters, 43k for elite.

Course should be the same as the team time trial, they just didn't update the distances.

But is it the out-going leg or the return leg for those of us just doing the 20km? Makes something of a difference...

I was hoping we in fact went half way and turned back at the 10km mark. I think are few climbs are required to keep everyone honest.

So was the downhill part really downhill or one of those James Fowler "downhills" that are really quite the opposite? ;)

Lap2: Out: 33.22 Back: 26.55

Rough times from my data:
Lap1: Out: 32.11 Back: 27.01
Lap2: Out: 33.22 Back: 26.55
So rough average speeds of 34kph out and 41kph back, 7kph difference

Does anyone have spare room in their car for me and my bike?

BTW, Jules and I are doing 50k TT this coming Sunday at Calga - though I am not sure whether it is the same course as NSW ITT or different. Come along if you want to do it.

This is a real chance for the Lady's to take medals. Each age category is shown separately.

I can't seem to figure out via bikely how they are making up the 19km's? If you are starting at Central Mangrove where in Somersby is the finish line?

If I deem it to be downhill enough and manage to convince Christian he is a time trailist (might need some help there), then I'll enter. Just for a bit of fun. I wish I could wear a moustache :(

You have to ride a vintage bike, otherwise it's innapropriate.

Not for me! There are 6 ladies in my category already and only 2 of us don't have additional sponsorship. Plus I prefer uphill.

I'm with Julio. The smugglers were always a bit of fun G, and in the past entertaining to see where they have popped up in the photos and websites. But would be nice to see you in normal bottoms when you have the red jersey on. Good luck at the TT.

Julio is spot on - DHBC club kit is black knicks and a DHBC jersey .... this has the advantage that members can buy any type of knicks they like (as long as they're black) rather than there being DHBC "branded" knicks, as people generally like different types of knicks and it cuts cost.

Dam, I had Brownie to chase and now I've got Geoffrey Baxter. Oddly while all the riders have moved around, I've stayed on exactly the same start time.

I don't think they are in perceived performance order, as in MMAS4 they have Geoffery Baxter near the beginning and Eddie Sales near the back.

its a state title, we need to be in club kit, or you need to get what you want to wear made official, and i think that costs a bit, they dont let you wear budgy smuglers though, the cycling is a lot stricter than the triathlons in a lot of ways, with bikes they are stricter too, you can ride some crazy stuff in triathlons!

Aero bars are installed, saddle changed, one of my bottle cages removed. Position is ok, but not great, for first TT with little experience it will have to do - could spend months trying to set it up.

Decisions to make:
Long sleeve or short sleeve skin suit?
Gloves or not?
Where is the best point in the course to have a spew?

Goody. I get to go first in my group and chase the young'uns, with all those multi-sponsored ladies of my own age group hot on my wheels. This isn't going to be embarrassing at all!

Anyone got some aero bars lying about that I can borrow?

If you get them....then I better get them. The problem is Cam, we haven't had any practice on aero bars....I reckon at this late stage it may slow me down through my own instability than add any speed to my performance.

This is just silly. Othy, I and Tim are starting within 4 min. Wot if we quickly catch eachother and do a team time trial and smash everyone in our age group? I know it will be unfair, but is it illegal in cycling? Are there any non drafting rules in these individual time trials?

Camilla, I have aerobars you can borrow.

Gi, No drafting allowed, you will be DQd.

3.41.08 Racing Procedure
1. If one rider is caught by another, he may neither lead nor follow in the
slipstream of the rider who caught up.
2. A rider when catching another shall leave a lateral gap of at least 2m
between themself and the caught rider. After 1km, the caught rider
shall ride at least 25m behind the other.
3. If necessary the attending Commissaire shall force the caught rider to
leave the 2m lateral gap and the distance of 25m, and the penalties as
provided for in rule 3.41.10 may be applied.
4. Riders may not provide assistance to one another.

You can view the rules yourself HERE

shall ride at least 25m behind the other.
3. If necessary the attending Commissaire shall force the caught rider to
leave the 2m lateral gap and the distance of 25m, and the penalties as
provided for in rule 3.41.10 may be applied.
4. Riders may not provide assistance to one another.

You can view the rules yourself HERE
25m???! These anti drafting rules are stricter than triathlons. I like it that there are rules to bust the cheaters

Ok, so I've just been reading about this 75cm from BB to end of bars?

Is this applicable?

Hey if your going to use aero bars it may be good to do some sorta training with them first, come on saturday slowies and use them a bit (you three did the team time trial with out them?! at least the rider on the front should have had them each time?! they make an absolutely massive difference?!)

G, your not allowed to be sitting within like 20 metres of the ride in front or some thing like that.

I predict that the DHBC master's average times will be well in excess of the DHBC elite's average times :)

Theoretically, yes. I think I just comply although my knees can hit my bars when I'm out of the saddle. You can get five centimetres dispensation for special circumstances e.g. you're a 6 foot 5 freak riding a 61cm frame. I'm relying on that dispensation if my measurements are out. From memory your saddle tip needs to be 5 cm behind your bb centre as well. Practically I haven't seen them measure bikes at either NSW pursuit or the NSW TTT, although I have seen the jig they use set up at Dunc and it's pretty cool.

You should be able to fit within these guidelines anyway. Your best bet for the odd TT is finding a position that best approximates your position when riding in the drops. Anything else will probably just compromise your output without serious tweaking and testing.

Well elite is me, g and Tim. G is used to riding about 180km, on top of a massive run and swim, Tim is just back from injury, and ive only just ridden a road bike this week and last week.. hmmnn not a great start. Then to add to this, we do double your distance.. hmmnnn Id be happy to compete with you for average speed mike, but think over all we will get hammered.

Thanks Matt. I'll do some more tweaking on the trainer tonight. I've been trying to make the position somewhat on the relaxed side - I ride a fair bit in the "ghost" aero bar position so I think I can make it work. 75cm just seems incredibly short for anyone over 6ft.

Whats a respectable average speed to aim for on this course - for those who have done it?

Elite - 36kph
Masters - 39kph

mike why are you comparing people that are riding double the distance of you? the masters have matt walman too, and alex chubb isnt elite, and he would have been our fastest. Are we including all the masters riders? Id say it would be much more useful to let the elite riders ride as far as you, then compare it? i dont see any more point than making it seem that the masters are fasterm, when in fact itsnot comparing people that are riding the samne event even. Let me race you over 20km mike :) id be much better at it right now.

Come on Tim, you might be riding twice the distance but your half the age of Lacy and yours truly.

Jokes aside, the nature of the course will suit some riders over others

They have reduced the Elite's TT distance to 36.8k?! This is bull. I thought I signed up for 43k.

It's because they're using a different course to previous years, most people should have known anyway, as it's the same course as the team time trial was. It's a harder course as well, so 36.8km is plenty.

Most of the people? Meh... it is poor communication on behalf of cycling NSW.
Is it a single lap or 2lap course?

Its an out and back course for you G. And I agree that it is a harder course then the one from last year, for you anyway. I only have to ride the more down hill half, it pays to have a masters license sometimes.
