Jo & I headed out to Lansdowne again for Waratah Vets this morning. Foggy, cold but dry.

E Grade: Only 12 starters today as I suspect other races had taken away most of the field. 4kph slower than last time at 30kph avg. Found myself unexpectedly off the front one time but slowed to let the bunch catch me as there was still 15 minutes to go. Last lap took off down the hill, got a big gap, slowed, sped up, slowed, couldn't decide if they'd catch me or not. They got me right at the top of the last climb coming onto the straight. Got second! Very happy.

Jo did D and got swamped at the finish after having done lots of work on the front. We went to lunch to celebrate what could be my first and last placing in a race. So inspired entered the Eddie Salas Mothers Day Cup at Eastern Creek. May live to regret that move but hey I've ridden a motorbike around Eastern Creek so at least I know the track.

You may have to challenge yourself next race by stepping up to D..

Thanks for the encouragement but at this stage I don't think so! I benefited greatly from there only being 12 starters with none of the faster riders from last time present, hence the slower avg speed. D is waaayyyyy faster at around 38k avg and crucially goes up the hills lots faster - I doubt I could even hang on.

I knew Stuart had a streak of competitiveness in him! Any other masters doing Eddie Sales Cup this weekend? YOu can enter on the day, but entries closed online last night.

That's because there's a long downhill section on the course with my top speed at 59kph. The home straight is also 1-2% sloping downhill making for good drafting in the sprint finish.
