Waterfall Cruisers 18/10/09

Hi all, just a quick note to say that we're hoping that the Cruisers bunch won't go to Waterfall on Sunday, October 18th.
The idea is that we'll ride to Dunc Gray velodrome instead, to watch the club crit.
This is an unashamed exercise in exposing our newer and slower members to racing, so that you can see it doesn't look all that scary, then sign up for a race license for 2010 and give it a go yourself!
It's about 18kms to Dunc Gray on a mostly-flat course.
You'll be able to do a lap or three of the track to get a feel for what's involved, then cheer for your clubmates as they circulate.
If folks want a longer ride home, we can construct a route quite easily mixing bike paths and the road, probably via the Liverpool-Parramatta rail trail and other bits of road I know.
So ... who's coming?

I'd rather do Waterfall. Get my kms up before the Gong ride. A couple of wet windy weekends have ruined my training plan.

i think it's a great idea. Unfortunately, 18 oct i'll be down in melbourne for ride around bay and then few weeks off to clean up old soccer knee problem- i would like to have a go at racing - providing there is a grade low enough for me(and if i have something to ride on!)- when i renew membeship what is the title of the category licence- i'm a little confused.

cheers

For those wanting a longer option home after the crit, I'm happy to lead a bunch that goes along a route similar to this: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Du ... g-way-home
There's some time on bike paths, but they are good paths through some interesting bits of Sydney you may not have seen! There's also a hop through Rookwood Cemetery. Spooooky.

Hi,

Richard and I have been doing the Thursday morning ride at Homebush semi-regularly for a month now. We meet 5:35am at Five Dock, corner of Arlington Rd and Queen St. It takes 18 mins to ride to Homebush via back streets.

I'm not riding tomorrow (15 Oct), but am hoping to ride the following week (22 Oct).

Feel free to join us, leave at 5:35am sharp, hey, and go without me if I am not there :)
