Hi everybody,

Medals for all who braved the exceptional heat to make it to training. Special praise for the U17 team pursuit riders who rode so hard to secure a place in the team at the trials on Monday. Thanks also to the support teams including Phil Kelly and the other parents from Southern Cross for their help and the DHBC parents who make time to bring riders and help in other ways as well. Lets hope the weather gods turn down the heat next week.

Training focused on individual sprints. Results and times have been emailed for your records as usual. Well done Thomas Cornish who won the Miss and Out and Liam Doyle who hung in for second place. Congratulations to Adolfo Velez who was fastest over 133 metres and Chris Hageman who was fastest over 1 lap. It's great to see the competative spirit developing.

Water
Don't forget, if you're thirsty while training, you're not drinking enough. Remind yourself to take small sips often. It'll helps prevent dehydration, heat stroke and dizziness, which could lead to nasty accidents in the heat! If you can't reach your bottle - raise your hand and it will be brought to you.

Planning
DHBC Juniors held their first planning meeting for the year. It was generally agreed that training is working well and that combining the session with Southern Cross riders makes the best use of our resources and skills and improves competition and frienship for the riders. DHBC Riders are planning to ride up to the Southern Cross road races on the first Sunday in March to have a go. Looking forward to it! We also discussed increasing participation by juniors in road training and racing in general and are planning to participate in next years schools cup in Victoria. The DHBC U17 mens pursuit team will be finalised next Monday. I'll be entering the team by Sunday the 13th of February. The races will be held on Saturday the 26th of February at Dunc Gray in concert with the Junior Track Carnival.

National Championships
Everyone is encouraged to get out to Dunc Gray Velodrome at Bass Hill to see Australia's best track riders compete in the national titles. Team pusuit on Friday night and point races Saturday among other events. Entry is $10. Follow the link for more information:

Lidcome-Auburn Track Series
Round #1 starts 7.30pm Friday the 11th of February and Lidcombe Oval (6.45 for BMX fun riders). It's great fun as Aaron Frater and Hugo Venville can attest. There are attractive cash prizes to be won, such as the Weekly Wheelrace Handicap with a $100 prize purse, while the "Computrainer" Junior Series (U9-U15) & BMX fun rides carry a prize purse of $500. More details at http://www.lidcombe-auburn.cc

I think that's all for now,
Till next time,
Keep Rolling
