Hi everyone,
Another great session on Wednesday and good to see riders turning up for Team Sprint Training on Mondays regularly as well. Remember DHBC trains on Mondays as well as Wednesdays, but the gates open after 6pm. The "track/field Closed" sign that goes up after heavy rain, can sometimes be inaccurate, and even if the track is unsafe to ride, we can always do a roller session - every little bit counts. Juniors need to have a parent with them on Monday nights, if I am not there to supervise, and It would be preferable to train early in the session before the adults hit their straps.

Training
With the juniors' numbers growing, Phil Kelly is taking the opportunity to run more races during training, so more riders get to do more riding. Wednesday the 27th saw lots of sprints, a set of flying 200's, a points race and finished with some Miss & Outs and a blistering wheel race, won by Thomas Cornish of Southern Cross. It was also notable for a big effort from our newest riders, Ewan Rozdal (DHBC) and Callum Goldsmith (SX), who did their first training session with the bunch. Email me on: trevort@bigipond.net.au for Times and Results and the Point Score Sheet, if you're not already on the mailing list. Thomas Cornish and Bill Bolton on 20 are now breathing down the neck of points leader Hugo Venville on 23. Time to get back in the saddle Venville!

Sydney to the Gong
At least four DHBC juniors and their parents have registered for the Sydney to Gong Ride. If you want to ride as a group - be at the start, Sydney Park, 6:10am. We'll need to be in mobile phone contact to find each other! If you haven't registered, but still want to ride be quick. Follow this link: http://www.gongride.org.au/ Don't forget to join the DHBC Team. Rolling out with the Saturday slowies from Mick Mazza's on Marrickville Road at 6.20pm would be an ideal warm up. I'll be there to supervise juniors if you're coming.

Racing
The Team Sprint event is being held at Dunc Gray Velodrome on Sunday December the 5th, and entries must be in by the 21st of November. We need to discuss which three riders will enter, and ensure bikes meet the race specifications. Once this is done, I will enter the team. Lets have a meeting next Wednesday to discuss this, or you can always email me with your views. There has been some confusion about racing age groups. Age groups go by calendar year, so if you are turning 15 next year, even if your birthday is in December, you wil be racing U17. Still confused? follow this link:

Juniors licenced to race, might also like to enter the Cyclecover Junior Track Carnival on Saturday the 20th of November at Dunc Gray Velodrome (entries close Sunday the 7th of November) and/or the 29th Junior Clarence Street Cyclery Cup, also at Dunc Gray, on Saturday the 27th of November (entries close Sunday the14th of November). You will need to enter yourself on-line for these events. Follow this link for details and entries:

Don't forget, you need to arrive a full hour before the event to stake out a place for your roller and gear, register and have your bike checked and rolled out. If you still have questions about the events call Cycling NSW on: 9738 5850. Barrie McLean is a good person to speak to.

Social Stuff
Notable by their absence this Wednesday were: Hugo Thompson, Hugo Venville and Seamus O'Sullivan, but don't doubt their committment, they had a leave pass for the Leichhardt High Year 9 School Camp. Expect they'll need a steam clean when they get home on Friday afternoon.

Medals
Clinking gold and a big boquet for Donna & Simon Bolton for introducing new riders to the Club and helping them get started and to Phil Kelly for just being great all round.

That's all for now,
so keep rolling...
