suspense is building as we aproach our next omnium, who will be challenging Alex Chugg's time, will it be the Llewellyn brothers head to head, will it be Ian the Ice man, Nathan the nightingale, or Mr Muscles him self (Patrick).

The first attempt at an actual hour record is also looming as well as many other crazy events at our next omnium.

41.8 km/h i think was what i did last time. Note that this was in the wind, with no warm up at all. I think i could do 45 pretty easy next time.

pending another 3 months of training, some new shoes, and maybe some extra lycra - I'll give it a shot.

I'm sure you could do 45, but for now 41.8 is sitting there waiting to be plucked

I reckon i can give it a shot at some point, but probably not until January at the earliest (have to prepare for Bright after Grafton). I'll also need a bigger gear on my track bike, just have to work out which one.....

Thought Id start a thread where we can catalogue the various attempts at the tempe half an hour record.

So far the rules are as follows:
-UCI legal track bike
-Standard drop bars must be used (ie no aero bars)
-Standard mass start helmet (ie no aero helmets)
-The rider is given 30 minutes to ride as many laps as possible from a standing start
-Up to 2 riders may attempt the record at each time, adequate room must be left if one ride overtakes another to prevent drafting

Attemps
31/07/10
John N - 18.898 km - 56.8 laps - 37.8 km/h average speed
Alex C - 20.614km - 61.9 laps - 41.2 km/h average speed

Are you up for the challange?

So when is the next omnium? I doubt my half hour average speed would match my age, ie 35...
