Hi everyone,

Thanks to Donna Bolton and Phil Kelly for keeping the show rolling while some of the riders and I were theatrically diverted. The musical was a great success! Well done Seamus and the two Hugos. Thanks to Donna also for looking after the records. Thanks to Phil for advice to the U15 pursuit team riders after motorpace this week too.

Training
This week's training focused on sprints. The riders put in some impressive times in their age groups for the Flying 200m. Special mentions for Bill Bolton and Chris Hageman who impressed with 14.81 and 15.06 respectively! Hugo Venville where were you?

Team Pursuit
We had five turn out for U15/U17 team pursuit training on Monday night. Hugo Venville would like to know how riders and parents feel about pursuit training every Monday night. Lets talk about it at the track.

Road Racing
Those of you licenced for racing and who have a road bike might like to sign on for the DHBC criterium on the circuit next to the Dunc Gray Velodrome at Bass Hill this Sunday morning.

Gong Ride
DHBC is forming a team for the Sydney to Gong Ride http://www.gongride.org.au/ on the 7th of November to raise money for charity. Details below. We can form a Juniors bunch if people are interested. http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1988

Bike Week Omnium - Saturday 25th September
In conjunction with nsw bike week DHBC will be having an omnium, which will be fixed set events aimed at entertaining a crowd. It would be great to see a variety of racing and a variety of different ages and genders involved but people will need to sign up in advance so that it is well organised on the day.

Where: Canterbury Velodrome (tempe)
When: from 10am to 2pm
Who can come: Everyone!!!!
Will there be a BBQ: Yes!!!!

People will be able to sign up to ride particular events by posting on the forum thread. http://www.dhbc.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1998It is likely to be a massive event which will attract a large crowd & should be lots of fun!!!!

Gongs
DHBC has been recognised with a Channel 9 business award for excellence as a community organisation. Simon L and Jess were surprised and honoured to accept the trophy at a glittering prize night recently. Well done DHBC - going from strength to strength.

Extra Curricular activities
Three of the DHBC juniors (Alexander Kaprusiak, Seamus O'Sullivan and Sam Weller) will be performing at a concert at the Concordia Club with the Ashfield Little Big Band (ALBB). The aim of the concert is to raise funds for a tour planned later this year. The band can belt out some great music, they recently won the NSW band eisteddfod and consistently rate highly in the competitions they enter. It would be great if DHBC members could come and support these budding musicians!

The details are:
Date: Sunday September 12
Time: 3:30pm - 6:00pm
Location: Concordia Club Tempe (just around the corner from the track)
Cost: Donation $5-$10, more of you like them!!

Good German beer available all day and Schnitzels on after 6!!

That's all for now,
Keep on rolling,
Michelle Brown

The crit has been cancelled due to a double booking of the track.

Great report as always Michelle - sounds like the juniors are really coming along.
