Re: Racing Queens birthday long weekend.

Do you have to pay entry into the park for west head, or do you park at the bottom of the hill and ride in? Then the only decision is what grade I should ride. I'm thnking of doing West head and Beaumont Rd this weekend.

These pedals are meant to be very good, but they no longer make them and the cleats my be a little hard to get.

I got asked about these not long ago. I couldn't find any information which leads me to believe that is a fairly generic carbon frame from China or Taiwan. I does have Mavic Aksiums (about A$400) and a full Ultegra groupset. It doesn't mention what the bars are. The cheaper carbon frames tend to not...

Wasn't a bad race, there were a few of us in C grade, Mike, Craig, Ian and myself. In D grade we had Chidgey and David Lamb. Pace wasn't as high as last year, the average was 40.6km/h were as last year it was 42km/h. The race was won by computer who was riding B grade. Not sure about the other places.

I'm intending on riding this one. Its forecast to rain tomorrow so I don't know what will happen to this race. I don't really want to race at Heffron in the rain. I'll be riding C grade and am just going tot enter on the day.

From those measurements I'd say get a bike with a 53cm top tube and run lots of seat post and possibly lots of spacers on the head tube if you don't have a really flexible back. But since it looks like you aren't going to fit the standard geometry I'd want to test ride the bike before I brought it. ...

On day 4 we could take the ferry from Beauty Point to George Town, that way there is less back tracking the next day. And we get to go on a boat ride. We'll just have to see if there is a ferry that will take our bikes, I'll investigate this.

I agree with Camilla here, I'm not sure all of us will find this route enjoyable. Its some long days with some big hills. Is everyone on the tour capable of doing a 160km+ day then backing up the next day?

One thing to be careful about with full carbon bikes is not doing the bolts up too tight. I'd recommend a torque wrench, you can borrow mine if you want when you are ready to build. I'd also recommend using an anti seize grease on the bottom bracket cups.

That is definitely a tough tour. I'm not sure that everyone that is coming is going to be capable of that. I wouldn't mind doing a detour to cradle mountain, but that would be on day 2 and its already pretty long.

I'm not sure you'd be able to get a gel out of that pocket during a race, but it is useful for keys. I think your gels will be going under the leg, destroying your aerodynamics slightly.

Have you ever tried to sew lycra?

I'm all for removing the zippered pocket on the back as the majority of the skinsuit buyers are track riders not TT riders.

One would hope the chamois is the bibs would be better then that in the skinsuit. The skinsuit is fine for track racing but I wouldn't want to do 100kms on a rough surface in it. Its a bit thin.

I vote for a bib. Although this could be a difficult one as everyone has their favorite brand. I was also going to move along to getting some caps made once we break even with the bidons, so if you want caps, buy bidons, they are always available down at the track on Monday and Wednesday nights.

There is always the option to build a bike. My CF road bike cost around $3400. If you can get a frame cheap enough then its a good option. As far as I can see the only difference between in the Force and Rival RD is that the Force RD has a carbon cage and a magnesium inner link whilst the Rival is all aluminium. So in a lab you'd be able to detect a shifting difference due to the weight difference, but on a bike you won't be able to te...
