Wollongong Return Sunday 9th March

So.......... Thinking of riding return to Wollongong on Sunday morning. Leaving the cafe at 6 (possibly with the RNP group), hoping to get to Wollongong by 930 or so to see the end of a triathlon. Our very own Ben Thomson is competing as well as some of my other squad members. And then riding home! ...

Re: Waratah Vets Eastern Creek 16 March

Nice work John! I can concur about Waratah Vets racing as an introduction to crits. My first race was with them (at Lansdowne) and I clung on to Stuart's wheel for dear life. Unfortunately that ride was marred by a crash but I've done a few since at both Lansdowne and Eastern Creek and they are all ...

Re: 3 Gorges Women's Ride - 2nd March

Hi All, Apologies for the late notice but we have decided to cancel this ride due to the weather. We made the call today so the other ride leader, Kylee, could go away for the weekend to see family. But when you look at the radar the weather forecast is unlikely to change. And as has been pointed ou...

Just a reminder about the ride this weekend. Make sure you bring two water bottles, spare tube (or two) and pump (or cannisters) and enough food for a good few hours of riding. Any questions let me know! P.S. I don't ride in the rain. Watch this space if it is raining or even damp. I will be driving...

Re: Commuting with a Laptop

Thanks all. I've ended up with a Crumpler . It's 30L so a little bit bigger but will allow me to carry any training gear I need or fold up shirts so they don't get too squashed. It is exceptionally light and has a chest and waist strap (to get around those pesky breasts) and is weather resistant. It...

Jo: Males have stronger upper bodies than females. A male upper body strength is 80% of his lower body, where a females upper body strength is 60% of her lower body. Add to the laptop your work clothes, food (I know you are too health conscious to risk purchased food), lunchtime exercise attire and...

Re: Commuting with a Laptop

Why is it easier to carry for males? Yes, I've been looking for a waterproof bag though most of them come with those wraparound waterproof covers. It also has 6 hour battery life so I don't need to carry a power supply as I don't plan to work for more than 6 hours of an evening at home! Thanks too T...

Commuting with a Laptop

Does anyone regularly commute with a laptop? If so, how do you carry it?
1. Backpack
2. Panniers
3. One shoulder thingy

Are there any recommendations for a backpack specifically (I can't/don't want to put panniers on my roadie)?

Re: What should we do with the recumbent?

Just had a message from a friend of mine who is the Chef de Mission for the Paralympic team (though is not in Sochi due to maternity leave). The NSWIS Para cycling head coach, Tom Skulander, may have an athlete who is in need of it.

What are the thoughts to that?

Re: Colnago (Mapei?) for sale in Katoomba

Assuming you mean 52cm and not 52 inches and assuming we are talking the top tube length, you could reasonably assume I could ride it (as that is my Avanti's size) and I am 166cm.

Re: What causes so many punctures in the rain?

My theory was always that water sticks together, and therefore the water, coupled with the little sharp objects one finds on the road, all stick together, stick on your tyre and work their way in.

Clearly steeped in much scientific data.

Hi Bec,

Mine is sitting around getting dusty at home. You are welcome to borrow it. I'd prefer not to sell it at this stage in case I make a return to RAW at some point in my future but you'd be welcome to borrow it on a semi-permanent basis.

I think it is a 52. I am 166cm tall.

2. 715 at the Bakery at St. Ives on Mona Vale Road (return to bakery approx 80km).

I always used to get it delivered to work. Head office was OK though I didn't do it very often. But when on site it was fantastic. Wiggle orders would arrive within days and with such a small office I would sign for it and smuggle it into my bag, no one the wiser. I agree with Todd, vastly more effi...
