Hard to say, its not just about your ability to pedal, bike handling comes into it. You can be a really strong rider and not be quick on technical tracks.

The 24hr isn't all that technical. Once you ride off road once or twice you/we will have a better idea how you'll be likely to go.

It was an interesting race, I spent quite a bit of time on the front of C grade, at times dropping back to 30kms and swinging to the side to try and get someone to come around me, C grade is full of people that just sit on and refuse to do any work. Its almost enough to make me ride B grade, I'd be ...

Isn't the whole glycogen stores thing muscle type dependent? Fast twitch muscles use muscle stored energy while slow twitch are aerobic (use oxygen). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Its not usually a free for all on the way back from Waterfall to Sutherland, this may have happened because it was a mixed bunch. The pace back is quicker, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. They wait at the servo in Sutherland if you get dropped on that stretch.

On a slight side note, I was talking to Terry last night at the track and he mentioned changing your chain every 2000 to 4000 kms, that way you don't need to change your cassette as often. Chains are a lot cheaper then cassettes.

Your chain rings will be 110BCD as they are compact cranks.

If you want to regrease your hubs you need some cone spanners, I can lend you some if you don't want to buy any. I can give you the hub rebuilding lesson if you want as well.

You can't clean or lube a Shimano freewheel body, you can't get them apart and if you do you'll never get it back together again. The load on the bearings shouldn't effect the clicky sound of the freewheel. Unless the sound is coming from somewhere else. How many kms have the wheels done? Do the bea...

I'm guessing this is a Shimano hub? Its the lock nut for the bearing cone, it is meant to be tight, but if you just try to do it up it may move the cone as well. The way these hubs are adjusted is from the non-drive side. You set the drive side cone in the correct position and lock it in position wi...

The second group led my Toff and myself may have been a little quick at times. But what we were aiming for was riding close together at a reasonable pace with corners, as this is what racing at Heffron is. Even if you're not going to race this will help with important things like holding your line a...

I was on the front when the road kill was spotted, I backed the pace off considerably and signaled, the signal may not have gotten passed down the line.

Tuesday morning training

As I have had a few enquiries about Tuesday morning training, here is what we have done for the past two weeks. We leave from the corner of Sydney Park road and King St near St Peters station, just around the corner on Sydney Park Rd, 6am, and that means we are leaving at 6am. We ride out towards La...

I'm all for this, as it was my suggestion. We may not need to restrict the pace line size in the fast bunch, as we are all should be able to ride in a straight line and the bunch is usually small. But restricting the pace line size for the middies isn't a bad idea. I think the only exception to rule...

I recently built a bike with SRAM force, which is their middle groupset. I think its meant to be equivalent to Dura Ace. I'm happy with the rear shifting but can't seem to get the front quite right. Its also a bit hard to find built bikes with the SRAM groupsets on them. As already mentioned, some c...

On closer inspection its the Neo Track Lite not the standard Track Lite, different seat post. If you're going to get a quote out of them can you find out how much the Bastis Pro bars cost.

There is a really good chance that the NRT comes from Karbona as he also sells the bars they have. Its the Track Lite.

That's Peter Barnard's branding on that frame. Its the same as the Hillbrick and several others. I've heard that its an open frame design and that there are several manufacturers. I once got a quote out of Karbona for US$750, but that was about 9 months ago.
