Joining Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club

So you'd like to join DHBC - great news - here's how:

For those who are fairly new to riding, we promote a 'try before you buy' (at your own risk) policy for your first two or three road rides. After that we do insist you make a choice of joining the club by buying a Cycling Australia (CA) membership which includes club membership, or not continue riding with the club.

Its very important for insurance, for complying with rules (including UCI and State and Australian Laws) and for organisational purposes that people join if they enjoy riding with DHBC. Plus if you like the club, why not join up?

Track riding note: You must have at least a 'Silver Ride' membership to do any form of track riding with DHBC.

Two easy steps to membership
  1. Understand the Risks of Cycling;
  2. Join DHBC by paying the applicable membership fee.
Joining DHBC gives you membership to two organisations
  1. Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club (DHBC); and
  2. Cycling Australia (which provides insurance and allows you to race if you have a race licence).

What sort of licence do I need?

If you just want to ride Saturday Slowies and/or do Waterfall on a Sunday, adventure rides and participate in other official club training rides and/or do Track Training (not racing) you need a Recreational (Silver) Ride licence, the cost of which in 2015 is $97.00 for ages 19 and over which covers administration and insurance and the small DHBC membership fee. DHBC does not ask for payment over and above the Cycling Australia scheduled fees.

If you want to race on the road, track or mountain biking (including track omniums and the club crit series) you need a Race (Gold) licence.

Age categories are dependant on the age you turn in the current calendar year and range from juniors, through elite to masters.

Membership categories are outlined the Cycling Australian website at this page.

Membership costs

DHBC membership is small part of the CA membership fee you pay online.

Membership fees are listed in the Cycling Australia website. Select your package, click join, seelct NSW and 'Dulwich Hill BC' and all avaible categories and their respective prices will be listed.

Note: Masters aged 30 and above can choose either a Masters or Elite Membership
  • Masters membership allows entry into all club events, Masters Category events including Masters National and NSW Championships. If you wish to participate in Open events you should obtain an Elite level licence.
Payments
You must join DHBC on-line using a Visa or Mastercard credit card. If you do not have access to a credit card, please contact the secretary via the links on the homepage to organise a manual membership application.

Expiry & Renewal

Recreational (Silver Ride) memberships are valid year to year (by quarter) from the time you join DHBC. For example if you join in Q1 (Jan-March) your membership won't expire till the end of March the following year.
Racing (Gold Race) memberships expire on 31st Dec every year. Note if you join in Q3 you pay a half year rate and if you join in Q4 you get 15 months membership for the price of 12. Simple huh!
