DHBC member with a 110 year family connection

DHBC member Gary Jenkins joined the club last year. However his grand father Percy Fitzgibbon (born 1891) and grand uncle Arthur (born 1881) were foundation members of the club a 110 years ago.
Both Fitzgibbon boys were present at the 8 April 1908 inaugration of the club held at the old Dulwich Hill Masonic Hall (since demolished) on New Canterbury Road.
Picture of Gary Jenkins, grandson of 1908 DHBC foundation member Percy Fitzgibbon and grandnephew of Arthur Photo of the DHBC foundation committee taken on 8 April 1908. 'Dulwich Hill Cycling Days'. A poem by Ken Fitzgibbon, uncle of Gary Jenkins. Written around 1988 and recited at the DHBC 80th anniversary celebrations and published in Sonia Heathcote's book (1988) of the same name, 'Dulwich Hill Cycling Days' Strangely, the Fitzgibbon family has had a continuous presence in the club. Apart from Percy (1891-?) and Arthur (1881?) being foundation members, Percy's son Ken (1914-?) attended the DHBC's 75th and 80th anniversary dinners. Let's hope Gary Jenkins, Percy's grandson will attend the 110th anniversary dinner in 2018 too.
