Hi Noel, my MCCC mate is working on the details of the route, however a reasonable number of K's will be within reach of Campbelltown or Meangle train stations, so an early bail is possible

OK the route has arrived
Marrickville -> Wolli Creek -> Riverwood then
Suggest you take the Narellan Rd exit, and head west on Narellan Rd to the Camden Bypass. Follow Remembrance Dr over Razorback to Picton. Take Barkers Lodge Rd to Nattai. This road is a little narrow, but should be ok on Sunday with a smallish group. From the lookout, take Burragorang Rd to Cawdor Rd, then left onto Cawdor and into Camden. When you leave Camden heading north, cross the river then take the first on the right (Macarthur Rd). This will take you back to the Camden Bypass to head back home. Roads to watch out for - Barkers Lodge, the big bridge on Camden Bypass heading south, and sections of Remembrance Dr.

I'd love to. But I turn into a pumpkin on the stroke of midday. So I need to be on a train at campbelltown about 10:30. Risk\reward ratio is too high.

1/2 hour mucking around

7 hours total
That puts us on the 1:07pm train that arrives at Wolli Creek at 2:11pm

Ride of Queens Ride Report
Stage 1 - Marrickville to Riverwood
Phillip, Todd and I decided to head out to Riverwood and make a decision from there. Once there, it was clear that the while the road was damp, the ride was going to be largely rain free.
Stage 2 - Motorway
Relatively easy ride, no wind problems, low traffic, no rain. Just before exiting Todd got a flat, caused by a staple
Stage 3 - The Burbs, Old Razorback, Picton
No wind, no rain and once past the city limits, dry roads. Todd got flat #2. We took the Camden bypass and went of a really long bridge, presumably there to avoid floods. I made a small navigation error, but picked up another road that took us to old razorback, which I think is about 4k. The guys hit the hill about 75mts in front of me. After about a K I came upon Todd and he didn't say anything, it was total focus. A bit further up the road I came upon Phillip who looked at me with an "where did he come from". Then Phillip went for KOM, except it wasn't KOM. A bit around the corner and the steep bit came, to Phillip's disgust....
In Picton, we went to the burger bar, the same one used on the 2008 and 2009 fixie century and scored a big breakfast/coffee deal. By this time the sun was providing some well earned sunshine.
Stage 4 - Picton to Nattai
This was unknown territory, none of us had ridden Barkers Lodge Rd and it turned out to be nice road, low in traffic, with one surprise hill. Sadly the 3 legged dog wasn't to be seen. I was sooo tempted to stop at the stool selling honey, what's an extra 1/2 kilo.
At the lookout
Other visitors at the lookout
Stage 5 - Homeward bound
The dry conditions continued as we made the best of the section after section of downhill and powered thru to Camden, this time going thru the town centre and onto Campbelltown train station where we managed to pick up an express train after only a 4 minute wait, dropping us at Wolli Creek train station at 2.41pm

While it damn near killed me it was a great ride, thanks for leading and organising.
Note to self, three weeks off the bike followed by 155km and 1500 vertical meters is not a good idea.

Have to say that I was impressed with Todd and Philip, they powered thru that ride. When I'm preparing for Grafton to Inverall later, they should come for a 200k ride.
Back to Adventure rides, perhaps we could go for Northern Adventure in July

Marco,
Captain Mike should probably answer but judging by the riders in the list so far I'm guessing that the pace will be reasonably fast - maybe an avg of 30kph.
It's not about a race - more about the scenery and riding somewhere different. Just like the marines no-one gets left behind. This route has a lot of hills and its a long ride. You'll need to be reasonable fit and confident with bunch riding and bike handling on the descents. Some of us might be feeling inspired by the TdF and the odd breakaway on the climbs might ensue but we all wait for the bunch to catch up at the summit.

Water Note: I was out at Akuna today. There is no longer water available at Illawong Bay in the park - the taps have had their handles removed. The bloke in the gatehouse said the water was contaminated. The Toilets are also closed but are replaced with portaloos. BTW, the bloke got very annoyed when some Turramurra guys took a slash behind the closed toilets. You'll probably need 2 bidons but I guess there's probably water at the marina at Akuna itself. Enjoy.

Any hints on the route? North? South?
Are we metric or imperial century for the non-fixie?
In past years it has been colloquially been known as the NFI Century, i.e. Non-Fixie Imperial Century. I presume the same arrangement will apply this time around.

The second half of the route will be similar to the Hawkesbury explorer, finishing in Windsor

Imperial century's are more fun

Mike, the url seems to be the same for each of those options, ie Wiseman's to Windsor.

I don't know most of that terrain very well Mike.
In terms of climbing there's:
The climb out of the Spit
West side of Bobbin Head
West Side of Berowra
Probably a bit out of Narrabeen lakes (?)
Anything else?

There's a climb out of Narrabeen lakes, its long but doesn't bite
The Second half the ride is easier than the first half. IE we start with the real fun and then switch to princess mode after lunch

Mike assured me this morning that the pace for this ride would be "social". So if any other slowpokes want to join to keep me company....

Guys/Gals, yes the pace for this ride is social. The stronger riders can challenge themselves on the hills and enjoy the view while the others make it to the top

http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/syd ... ml?ref=hdr
Min 15 Max 25 A shower or two
Partly cloudy. The chance of showers from the late morning. Light winds becoming north to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then tending southeast to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the late evening
,
While not perfect, its looking OK. There's bail out options for the first half of the day.
I'll post again around 5am, so please check for a post.
====Things====================
- Pace is that of the slowest rider. There are a number of hills for the quick riders to maximise their fun, so its a ride for everyone.
- Food. Briing something with you that won't die in your pockets. After Wisemans there a healthy distance before we hit Enzena (spelling?) where we can score a drink and or snack.
- Water. Please bring 2 bottles
- Pack your best smile
See you in the morning
