2014 Tour de DHBC competition

With Tour de France looming, its your chance to win your own tour. This year is a points competition, starts on the the first day of the tour and finishes on the last day.

The points are;
1 Commute, Stationary Trainer or Spin Bike
2 Train (not stationary) or Race
3 The Training or Racing has the same focus as the stage, for example you did hill repeats on a mountain stage, sprint training on flat stage or time trail on a time trail day

Only one of the above can be scored on a single day.

The activity must be in the bounds of what you would typically do, ie unless you are seriously unfit riding down to the local shops cannot be counted as a commute and the training session must be what you would typically do on normally for training. For racing to count as the same as a stage, it needs be done at a hilly venue like Landsdowne for a mountain stage and for a flat stage you need to have contested the sprint at a flat course such as Heffron park.

Personal discretion is needed, if you do a half baked training session then you are only cheating yourself and what may be considered training for one may be considered insufficient for someone else. For example hill repeats in CP may be considered climbing for an E grader but not an A grader who just powers over them.

Rest days are rest days, if you do something, the points are negative and must be subtracted from your total.

Remember this is just a piece of fun, at the end of the day everyone is a winner

OK the stage types are described here

So your mission for the first 7 days is;
Sat 5 July Flat a sprint focus on your training ride or racing to claim the full 3 points
Sun 6 July Hills a climbing focus on your training ride or racing to claim the full 3 points
Mon 7 July Flat
Tue 8 July Hills
Wed 9 July Flat with cobblestones (should be some interesting interpretations of that)
Thu 10 July Flat
Fri 11 July Flat

I went to La Pa which is flat - like everyone else we rode down Coward Street in the dark. I think that's a cobblestone stage. I'm awarding myself 3 points for that.

I'm assuming you are referring to Wednesday. It's up to you to determine if conditions warranted the cobblestone conditions and hence the 3rd point

Monday 3 spin classes + bike commute and a 4th spin class later this evening = 1
I suffered low glycogen symptoms (headache, sick feeling) riding home after the 3rd class, had to take it easy to avoid a bonk. If that commute had been the end of a stage I would of probably been eliminated

Especially given we have a DHBC sanctioned ride on tomorrow morning.

Paul stacked and finished his ride early with a snapped rear derailleur hanger.
Only fair that he doesn't deduct full ride points - he only rode about 10kms.

Tuesday 3 spin classes, but only rode to 2 of them. Cost me too much money to have a rest day -1
Wednesday 3 spin classes, but only rode to 1 of them 1
Thursday 3 spin classes, but only rode to 1 of them 1
Friday 1 spin class, Pilates class and yoga class (but they don't count) and didn't ride to any of them 1
Could of done 2 more spin classes on Friday but I'm saving energy for the weekend

Well it was a race and up hill. My power meter said I did 101% FTP. I didn't look at what everyone else rated themselves. Plus I rode there in the first place.
