Hi Noel, my MCCC mate is working on the details of the route, however a reasonable number of K's will be within reach of Campbelltown or Meangle train stations, so an early bail is possible

Was it the Adventure ride group I passed at around 6:10am this morning on the Princes Hwy just neat the Cook's River? I was in a yellow spray jacket, waved, someone saw me and gave me a "Who the hell?" look. Kudos all the same.

Ride of Queens Ride Report
Stage 1 - Marrickville to Riverwood
Phillip, Todd and I decided to head out to Riverwood and make a decision from there. Once there, it was clear that the while the road was damp, the ride was going to be largely rain free.
Stage 2 - Motorway
Relatively easy ride, no wind problems, low traffic, no rain. Just before exiting Todd got a flat, caused by a staple
Stage 3 - The Burbs, Old Razorback, Picton
No wind, no rain and once past the city limits, dry roads. Todd got flat #2. We took the Camden bypass and went of a really long bridge, presumably there to avoid floods. I made a small navigation error, but picked up another road that took us to old razorback, which I think is about 4k. The guys hit the hill about 75mts in front of me. After about a K I came upon Todd and he didn't say anything, it was total focus. A bit further up the road I came upon Phillip who looked at me with an "where did he come from". Then Phillip went for KOM, except it wasn't KOM. A bit around the corner and the steep bit came, to Phillip's disgust....
In Picton, we went to the burger bar, the same one used on the 2008 and 2009 fixie century and scored a big breakfast/coffee deal. By this time the sun was providing some well earned sunshine.
Stage 4 - Picton to Nattai
This was unknown territory, none of us had ridden Barkers Lodge Rd and it turned out to be nice road, low in traffic, with one surprise hill. Sadly the 3 legged dog wasn't to be seen. I was sooo tempted to stop at the stool selling honey, what's an extra 1/2 kilo.

Other visitors at the lookout
Stage 5 - Homeward bound
The dry conditions continued as we made the best of the section after section of downhill and powered thru to Camden, this time going thru the town centre and onto Campbelltown train station where we managed to pick up an express train after only a 4 minute wait, dropping us at Wolli Creek train station at 2.41pm

While it damn near killed me it was a great ride, thanks for leading and organising.
Note to self, three weeks off the bike followed by 155km and 1500 vertical meters is not a good idea.

Have to say that I was impressed with Todd and Philip, they powered thru that ride. When I'm preparing for Grafton to Inverall later, they should come for a 200k ride.
Back to Adventure rides, perhaps we could go for Northern Adventure in July
What do you think?

A plan is forming
if we ride on the 8th put me down. I'll also put a vote in for West Head and/or Akuna Bay.
Love the riding out that way. By then I may even be able to keep up.

I'm sorry, I haven't managed to clear the bug I've got. I felt better this morning, but have gone down hill as the day progressed.
I've moved the ride to next Sunday, the 15th.
Weather forecast says 30% chance of rain, so perhaps its for the better anyway.

Water Note: I was out at Akuna today. There is no longer water available at Illawong Bay in the park - the taps have had their handles removed. The bloke in the gatehouse said the water was contaminated. The Toilets are also closed but are replaced with portaloos. BTW, the bloke got very annoyed when some Turramurra guys took a slash behind the closed toilets. You'll probably need 2 bidons but I guess there's probably water at the marina at Akuna itself. Enjoy.

Next time your mates talk to you about Akuna bay, West head, the conversation will be something like this
Mate: "I did Akuna bay and West head"
You: "did you take powderworks rd?"
Mate: "No"
You: "Oh"
Photo's taken by Anthony
West head stunner
Rumors that I was tired were entirely untrue
Breakfast in style at Church point

Well, that's one way to find out if the new saddle is genuinely more comfortable. Are we metric or imperial century for the non-fixie?
In, with the caveat that the missus is having a tooth extracted the day before, so it will depend how she pulls up.

I don't know most of that terrain very well Mike.
In terms of climbing there's:
The climb out of the Spit
West side of Bobbin Head
West Side of Berowra
Probably a bit out of Narrabeen lakes (?)
Anything else?

The Second half the ride is easier than the first half. IE we start with the real fun and then switch to princess mode after lunch

Guys/Gals, yes the pace for this ride is social. The stronger riders can challenge themselves on the hills and enjoy the view while the others make it to the top
