Was given a new-old bike last week. A mid-1980s Raleigh (with Panasonic colours) road bike with 531c tubing.

Unlike my red Alcone road bike, this one works very nicely. :)

Bike was given to me by my brother in law who bought the bike new in 1985. Coincidentally he bought it in Singapore (where I am from) when he was there as a member of the Australian Dragon Boat team. He rode it till about 1993, and sat in the garage ever since. He says the components are original, although the seatpost, seat and pedals were missing when I got it. Will have to get some info from 1980s experts in order to get period correct parts - hello Toff.
Rides nicely, but need to get the BB repacked with grease.
Lizanne, u are welcome to ride it if you want!

This is the basis of my Shimano knowledge: http://sheldonbrown.com/shimano.html Guess you guys are well familiar with the Sheldon Brown site.
I have idea that while 600 cost was a big step up from 105 back in the day, practical differences with brakes, derailleurs could be minimal. Crankset might have been one area where 600 step-up was really worth the extra spend. Smart build?

Not sure what size this frame is, but it might be your size. The seller doesnt appear to know much about bikes, so it might work to your advantage. Think the bike is located somewhere near Penrith. No bids at the moment and price is standing at $180.
