Hi Everyone,

I am a experienced mountain biker considering coming to the dark side due to getting old, busy and having a baby.

I recently moved to Marrickville and will most likely join the club in the coming months.

I usually ride something about 56-58cm on the road.

I am looking for a cheap roady while I get my fitness up and decide what I want to buy for a longer term ride.

Eventually I will spend a couple of grand on something decent, but for no something that fits and works well would be good. I am even open to hire/borrow/swap/potential. I work as a landscape designer and have a collection of vintage bike and various MTBs... So if you are looking for a restoration project or need some advice in the garden, let me know!

Please get in touch if you have something suitable.

If you don't get many responses Dan check out eBay. Theres usually a couple half decent deals going about. I know reid cycles also do brand new road bikes around your price range. ( see attached link ) https://www.reidcycles.com.au/bikes/road-bikes.html

Or if you join the Facebook group called 'Bicycle Market' and post what you have said above you will get 5 or 10 offers within a day.

Yup, I'd look at Bicycle Market and Triathlon Marketplace.

Please don't get a Reid...

I speak from experience as I started on a Cell. It didn't work out.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Don't worry, there is no danger of me buying a Cell or Reid bike!

The budget has been now bumped up to $1000, I have been keeping an eye out and should be able to find something OK for that price.

Hi Ben,

Is the bike you mentioned still available. I have had a mishap on my 2014 Merida Reacto 7000 and have cracked the carbon frame around the fork. As a result I am after a new frame or possibly a new bike. I would be interested if your friend has any other demos going cheaply. Size around 54cm is ideal.

Thanks and Regards,
TimG
