The DHBC Valley Wheelers were contacted via our 'Sydney Classic Bicycle Show' Facebook page by the Sydney City Council today. The Council is organising a 'Sydney Rides Business Challenge' and are seeking ways to publicise the event.

This is a competition between businesses to see which can get the most employees to ride a bike. It’s all about participation; employees only have to ride a bike for ten minutes or more for their participation to count.

They are also on the look out for 'Challenge Champions', people who already ride who can encourage their companies and businesses to sign up and take part in the challenge, encourage work mates to either go for a ride or come to one of our try a bike events and to help us engage with employees.

In 2011 more than 3,000 Sydney workers from 180 businesses clocked almost 250,000 kilometres in the first Sydney Rides Challenge. They are doing it all again in March 2015. The goal is to get more people riding more often and we need your help.

The Sydney Rides Business Challenge is a competition between businesses to see which can get the most employees to ride a bike. It’s all about participation; employees only have to ride a bike for ten minutes or more for their participation to count.

They can ride wherever they feel comfortable and whenever they like between 23 March to 19 April 2015.

The Challenge is the start of a behaviour change journey for people who are new to cycling. Together we can help them overcome their barriers and start riding a bike to work.

Find out how you can help at one of our information sessions at Town Hall House on January 20, register online for either 12.30 - 1.30pm or 6 - 7pm.

JLL are up and running!

I like this as it only takes 1 ride to count and is based on a % of staff participating rather than number of km's traveled (though they include that too).

So it will hopefully add more of an incentive to just ride a bike, rather than trying to break any distance records.
