I've been reliably informed that there's a bike shop opening on Victoria Rd, between the locksmith on the corner with Sydenham and Double Roasters. Anyone else have any information?
Have a great ride,
Peter

I had a look in the window on the way home today.
They have just started fitting it out but lots of nice looking polished steel custom made singlespeed / fixies hanging from the ceiling. Reynolds tubing, bright orange colours, funky looking handlebars. And a couple of fold up bikes too.
For now it's a carbon-fibre free zone.
If I didn't know it was a shop I would say that it looks like Peter Bownes's spare room.
I boldly predict that unless you are:
a. A Valley Wheeler
b. A hipster
c. Have made a genuine attempt at a beard (if male)
d. Or a home brewer
...entry to the shop will be denied....

For now it's a carbon-fibre free zone
And so any respectable fixie shop should be
Not even carbon effect....

I had a look this evening also and the resemblance is uncanny
Could be dangerous.

I spoke to Paul, one of the guys running it, when I popped in a couple of weekends ago. Seems like a really nice guy, and about as far from a hipster you can get. Just a guy who loves bikes and wants to own a bike shop. They have a great spot on that corner, and I hope they do well and stay around for a long time. Check out the Tanto steel in there, it's pretty awesome with beaut lugging...

I personally do not see any correlation between us Valley Wheelers and Hipsters.
FYI us Valley Wheelers have tried to 'reach out' to Hipsters/fixie crowd and tried to include them in the
Sydney Classic Bicycle Show, but I think they see us as a bunch of old farts.
