Any effective tips for getting rid of the taste of sports drinks out of your bidon?

The bidon always seems to have a rather unpleasant lingering stale taste for months afterwards regardless of how many times it gets washed.

when it's empty, chuck it in the freezer. This is effective for getting out smells, so it may also work for tastes, leave the lid off though.

I came across this. Have not tried as yet, so not endorsing it, but might try it out

Close to the vinegar and baking soda is to use denture cleaning tablets/power, better taste is you don't rinse it all out.
