Hi All,

Not much of a Christmas Story coming up.

My dad plays golf down at Kogarah and his playing buddy didn't turn up today. Why you may ask?

It turns out that he was taking his daily morning walk through Oatley. He was walking down a one way street when two cyclists came up behind him. They may have asked him to move but he is getting on in years and so his hearing is not the best. Anyway, needless to say he didn't move. So one of them proceeded to get off his bike and beat him up. He ended up with a broken nose and a hospital visit.

In his statement to police they said that this particular person has been known to assault pedestrians before but they have not been able to identify him. They think it is only a matter of time before he starts bragging about it to someone.

So if everyone can please keep an ear out on their rides and while racing about anyone who thinks he is doing society a service by getting rid of pesky anti-cyclists!

Merry Christmas!

Wait, a cyclist beat the guy up? That's horrible. Was it a lycra-clad cyclist, or just a guy on a bike? Doesn't change anything either way, just trying to narrow it down.

Some people really don't deserve the right to breath. Hope they catch those idiots and your dad isn't in too much pain. That's really horrible Jo Jo

Geez there are some jerks out there. Rhys - you sound surprised to hear there are also arseholes who ride bikes?
I hope he is doing OK and is on the mend soon.

Suggest you send this query to the St George Bicycle Club or the Oatley Cycling Club. Would be good if they were made aware of this thug in their area.

Now that you mention it Pat, I guess I am. I guess we're pretty lucky with the people in our club.
Supremely disappointed that something like this would happen.

Thanks Marc! Will be interesting to hear whether word of mouth elicits a response...

I'm sure there's more to the story, and I would have been interested to see if it was a roadie or lad on a mountain bike etc (I have know a lot of lads that ride mountain bikes between powder business appointments) but in saying that it sounds like some thing a roadie would get annoyed at, as a mountain bike can just go on the grass.
