As a newbie I just thought it was worth saying what fun my first waterfall ride was.

I had it built up in my mind as a huge challenge that had to be slowly worked towards. I know that 25s isn't a hard pace - but it was so good to find that all the concern was unnecessary. Really enjoyable, lovely day, great company and support! And thanks Stuart for sitting on the front the entire time!

The main lesson I take away is that it probably isn't recommended to have a clip stack to start your very first time - and quite early too.

Nice one Adam! I'm not at all surprised you didn't find it too difficult. Can't wait to see you on a road bike (riding off into the distance).

And just for the record Jo, Ted did try proposing once - but whatever I was drinking at the time came out my nose and now he just keeps it for a party trick.

Confirmed. Although Camilla is in fact currently on two strikes, not one.

That's sure to keep us training hard forever Jo! According to SMH, Eleri's already married anyway.

The male partners could also be known as the DHBC HABS Husbands and Boyfriends (instead of the more commonly known WAGS) and could accompany, resplendent in lycra of course, their talented female sporting partners to award presentations.

Move over Lara Bingle ..... I can see the cover of Who Magazine now......

Actually that's a mental picture that I just didn't need

Hmm, I'm already a MAMIL, and don't know if I want to be a HAB as well. (Colleagues at work, who've come from overseas, tell me that Australia is acronym-crazed).

So if I was to DHBC hook up, would that be an automatic marriage?

Also, Adam is pretty speedy when riding my spare road bike, which I swear is too big for him - wait till be gets one that actually fits him and then Eleri may be in trouble!

I can see a new event to be added to the DHBC Criterium Championship - The Altar Dash (sounds a bit like balderdash)

A true handicap race where the results will be more hotly contested (either on the finish line or in a court of law) than a TDF win by Alberto Contador.

Appeals can always be made to CAS and drug testing will be mandatory. ie you would not partake this risky event without having some form of Dutch courage in the system

I was puzzled too - thought you meant whaling in the sense of "whaling on" i.e. punching etc.

A month or so ago, in a rare bout of insomnia, I saw an amazing documentary on 19th century American whaling, the origin of the Moby Dick story and Hermann Melville's experiences on whaling boats. Thus I was pretty excited when there was a dramatisation of Moby Dick over two Sunday nights this month. What a completely cheesy turkey it was! I know that Donald Sutherland will do anything for a dollar, but William Hurt, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson? What were they thinking?
