Time for a new phone

My phone died, so I need a new one straight away. Options are;
1. Company phone, which is free but will be one of those silly Nokia's with the a-z mini keyboards.
2. iPhone. Advantage is that it will plug into the iPod cradles at some of the gyms that I instruct at.
3. Android. Pretty much the same as the iPhone except for the ability to plug into a cradle. Requires more thinking as I have to wade thru a number of models.

How much are you willing to spend and if you are willing to pay for significant amount of wireless data. That'll be the differentiator b/n options 1 vs 2/3.

I have the HTC Wildfire and there is a reason why it's free or 'worth' $230 outright , unlocked and delivered in Australia.

I've got a Wildfire (no "S"), which I got with a phone plan. Seems ok to me, but it is the first touch/graphic phone I've had. I've found I'm using about 3 to 5 megabytes of data each month, which is much less than I had expected. YMMV

Wildfire S (http://www.htc.com/www/product/wildfires/overview.html) is new and due in Australia next week or so
for pre-order according to ( http://www.mobicity.com.au/htc-wildfire-s.html - note : has been discounted to $399 ) although I doubt it can undo the multitude of faults of the predecessor.

Personally I would avoid the Wildfire like the plague, but since you can get it free with your company (and I'll assume you have to pay for an iphone ) it's pretty much a no-brainer situation - you can always buy a proper (i)phone later!

Unfortunately to wait for the new version would require me to not have a phone of any kind for a couple of weeks, so my hands are tied. Whatever the wildfire is, its going to be streets ahead of what I had previously.

Apparently I can't get my SMS's off the phone provider, so unless I can get them out of the old handset, I've lost them

Mine cost $248, which I have expensed to work.

It's my first android phone so I don't have other experiences to compare to, but I can't think of any particular reason not to buy it. Apparently the new version is better, so should appear more to the power users.

If I was paying for it myself, I'd probably take up that $175 deal.
