I have a crap load of tubes that need to be patched. Try to decide if I patch them before leaving, box them up and patch them later, or auction them off to someone looking for points? ;)

I binned my stash from last year, but looking at the points this year so far, perhaps that was a bad decision

Closing in on Tim
Pin point puncture to fix in the wet and dark. Couldn't find the cause, presumably it was blown out. As a precaution, I patched the tube rather than replace it, so there would be a patch between the tyre and tube.

4 flat tyres in one week. The sky is falling in. Two from glass, two from failed valves.

So Ben has had 2 flats at the velodrome
0 points
He didn't repair any of them
0 points
He got someone else to repair them
-1
+.5 for both Nathan and Lizanne!
he hasn't returned the tubes!
-1
+.5 for both Nathan and Aimee!
He had no tubes/pump
that should be a -4 but it's not applicable @ the velodrome
he should also loose a point for getting his girlfriend to fix his bike. but i'll take that off next time. this is just a warning.

I've also patched the tubes so i get a +1!

A combination of low winter km's and Gatorskins has meant the wooden spoon was looking good for 2011. Until Wednesday that is, when I had a valve that wouldn't hold in the pressure.

-0.5 ben
+0.5 Me!
now all i need to do is patch the tube!
I recon if he's going to beat me in lead-outs he should be able to fix his flats :!:

Ah, the rule says "patch own tube" so for Tim to get the points, Ben has to transfer ownership of the tubes

Went to ride the fixie down to the gym and the rear was flat, so I rode the Focus. When I pulled the tube out, it appeared to be a failed patch, but after putting the tube under water, I discovered the hole was bang in the middle of the patch. I laid the tube back over the wheel and discovered a fine hole in the tyre liner. So some thin object and gone thru the tyre, then thru 2 layers of tyre liner (it was where the ends overlap and then smack thru the middle of the patch

Yet another flat on the rear of the fixie, I knew I had a slow leak on the way home but it got me there. This time I decided to pump anti puncture fluid into the tube and got out the special plunger thing I had brought for this purpose, but blow me it just wouldn't pump it in. after a bit of a mess, I quit and removed the tube, to find the villain was a thin piece of flexible metal that had gone thru the tube, but not the liner. It got the tube by bending around the liner and getting the tube in the side.

Anyway I got a tube where the valve could be removed and put the anti puncture fluid in it, but I wasn't really sure how much to put in.

Front on the fixie. I have a piece of old tube that covers the end of the tyre liner protector, so to stop the end cutting the tube and it had somehow moved off the tyre liner end, resulting in a gradual wear in the tube where it contacts the tyre liner protector. End result was that I had a slow leak and pumped up the tyre at Burwood station, on the way home from the Adventure ride, which got me home where I changed it.

+1

Once again the front on the fixie. This is go to be the most unusual flat I've had, the tyre liner had split and somehow caused the tube to puncture. Where there liner was split, there was a second layer of tyre liner as it was where the overlap was. The second layer was in perfect condition.

if the comp finishes at the christmas party every year, it looks like Victoria is the winner on 13 flats :)
