I thought I would post this up as I had absolutely no idea there was such a thing as a crash replacement program, until my good friend at CBD alerted me to it before I went and paid full price for a new helmet.

Not sure what other companies do it, but Lazer have a crash replacement program where you send back your cracked helmet with your receipt and a short statement of what happened and you can purchase a replacement at 40% off the RRP. This is great, considering the RRP on the Genesis I am replacing is $300 - so at $180 a new helmet is much more affordable! They (the distributor) will even give me a different colour if they have it in stock.

I wish I knew about this when I cracked my last helmet - the bike shop I bought that one from was quite happy to take my $280 for a new helmet and neglected to tell me about any kind of cash replacement discount!

The guy I spoke to from the distributor said it is unfortunately not a very well advertised program amoungst stockists.

Met has a crash replacement program as well. In their case it's handled by the distributor, not the retail outlet.
