I saw Lizanne this morning on Bourke St Waterloo. She chased down a mountain bike and then dragged him off at the lights. She won.

I was driving my car so she didn't see me.

Spotted Huw the P/F champ at Canberra last weekend. I was volunteering at the finish line of an enticer triathlon, and he showed up looking for registration for the crit. I was surprised that he recognised I!

I was spotted by an unknown in Kiama on Saturday. I had just rolled in with bike and Bob when someone from a car driving past yelled out "go Dulwich Hill club". It was a pretty nice welcome, and a reminder of why I love wearing my club jersey when touring!

Saw some guy I didn't recognise riding up Parramatta Rd at the intersection with City Rd. I guess this is going to start happening lots more as the club expands, you can't be expected to know everyone and there are so many people I haven't met and there seems to be a few who know who I am but I don't know who they are....

I've seen 3 people i didn't know or recognise this week. The Parramatta rd guy (at summer hill), a guy on a black single speed (on Lilyfield rd), and a rider going over the pyrmont bridge (sex unidentified as it was a quick flash of the DHBC jersey)

good to see lots of us out and about!

This seems to be happening more frequently as the club grows. In time, as "Dulwich Hill Spotted" naturally evolves into a formal competition with points, penalties, arbitrary unfairness, and sexism, we will clearly need a mechanism to enable the formal identification of those members of the club whose fame does not precede them.

Any ideas? First one to mind is numbers, worn on the back of the jersey. Unfortunately the CA membership number, whilst unique, has 6 digits, so if it was large enough to be useful, it would probably wrap completely around the torso of all but the more casual rider, so perhaps not so useful. Club-issued 3 digit numbers would work, but we're just postponing the issue until we get our 1000th member.

Names, initials, or nicknames writ large on the back of the jersey might help, but also may attract the attention of Parrot-listening motorists (those who can read at least), and inspire them to personalise their verbal abuse of the jersey wearer. (It may also make us look like a bunch of merchant bankers.)

I dunno. Microchipping everyone seems a bit draconian. Compelling everyone to buy a Garmin 500 & download their movements every day for cross-checking purposes would be an administrative nightmare.

Any thoughts?

Andrew :)

I spotted Christian and the juniors coming down heartbreak hill this morning. I waved to Hugo I think it was but I didn't have a DHBC jersey on so I doubt he recognised me.

My only thought is we could start by adding a person's name to their forum profile, so at least we can find out how they are by clicking on their user name. I know there is a thread for this but clicking is easier and I'm lazy....

I didn't see them.
I thought Jesus was the only one who could walk on water.
They must have sunk by the time I got there.

Yesterday, I was driving home down Lane Cove Road at North Ryde, and someone in a DHBC jersey was powering up to the M2 turnoff. I squeezed through the lights and the rider eased up. Looked a bit like Dougie. Had a large duffle bag atop his back. There was no time to yell "DHS".

I have considered riding that way home from Gordon, but I always end up going Pacific Highway, so if the rider I saw can identify himself, I'd like to chat about the journey you take...

Spotted Toff today climbing the Pacific Highway in North Sydney while wearing a rather fetching pink jersey. Didn't shout as I was standing among a bunch of fellow pedestrians who would have been startled. And Toff didn't look like he needed any more distractions.

Wearing my ONCE - jersey, Tour De France version. The ONCE team jersey was always yellow, except in the TdF, because the race organisers believed it was too close to the leader's yellow jersey, so they made ONCE change the colour if they wanted to race in the Tour. ONCE chose a very bright and highly visible pink. That's today's fun fact. I had just spotted Brownie on the deck of the Harbour Bridge, and we had both been making a scene, waving at each other. I think I was still cogitating whether I would be allowed to post about spotting Brownie, who technically isn't DHBC, but is an honorary member, I suppose...

Also saw Weiyun last Thursday outside the Slip Inn on his Damocles. We nodded, but I don't think we processed who we both were until after we were out of earshot of each other.

Spotted about 15 or so jerseys lurking at the turn off into west head today. Only recognized Stuart (fixing a flat at the time). I must start riding waterfall, so many new faces! Stopped and spoke with one gentleman for a couple of mins and was on my way. Had a feeling I was going to bump into them at some point. Looked like a great turnout and what a great day for cycling!

Here's proof that I'm a true bike nerd.

Rider doing track stand on Cooks river Canterbury rd underpass. I say "nice track stand" then I realise that its a hot chick (Lizanne). Lengthy conversation about N+1 and R-1. Disappointed that she didn't notice my beautification's, though it was dark.

n+1 is how many bike you should have/need/want
r-1 is you'r realtionship status

so when n+1 = r-1 you'r in trouble. and i'm teetering close to that line....

so i saw Alex Dircks on Bourke St a few saturdays ago while riding with Jessica just after we visited Aimee @ work.
i saw Amy on the Cook River on Friday, while i was doing a dash home so i could get chocolate before RAW (where were you that night?)
Mike went by me last night on the foot path infront of my house. mike was looking like he was on a mission, so i think he missed me when i said hi.

I said Hi a little too late.

Last night I suffered, in the 5.45pm spin class I felt like I was going to chuck. The 7.30pm spin class I felt like I was running out of glycogen, which wouldn't of been the case. Going home I was focused on food. Don't know what was wrong, I hadn't felt any effects in the 6am class, nor the 6.15am class this morning.

Spotted Rainbow, Simon, +2 on their way home from Sat Slowies (I'm assuming). That was me wishing you a pleasant morning between the two bike paths as I went the other way.

:D Yeah, it was a bit cold standing there in my club jersey, but I got the photo  The ride out along the track was awesome and the ride back made even better when we stopped at the pub for a quick pint. Somehow we'd managed to meet half the people in the bar along the way, including the lady who waved to us from a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere while she was hanging her clothes out on the line in the drizzle. We had a bit of a laugh with them all and only just made it back to our camper in daylight (ie 10:30pm!)

Looking good Ian! Based on that road your standing on that's looks like a very pari-roubaux touring route!
